i would got out to their navigator while they eat and make a sald on their windshield and top it off with ice cream to see if they get the message.

or i would tell them they are no longer welcome and if they pull the BS threat that they wont recomend them. i would simply put it to them "if your friends are as rude as you they are not welcome either."[}:)]

    That's just pathetic.

I can go one better than that - I used to work with a guy who would take his wife and kid to a steakhouse and order one steak dinner. She would go to the salad bar and fix a meal-sized salad, give the kid some fries and some pickles, and he would eat the steak! That's 3-for-1!

    to add to previous post

i frequent a chinese buffet near my work and its all you can eat. they serve quality food like crab legs ect.

i have seen a couple on 2-3 occasions sit and eat crab legs for over an hour straight. keep in mind this is 9.95 a person.

its usually about 8:30pm when i go. i once asked the waiter if i could speak to the manager. i told him when they come in to not continuously refill the crab legs. to say that you just ran out for the evening and more will be in tommorow. and that if any guests ask about the missing crab legs to explain the situation and im sure that they would agree

That kind of stuff makes me sick...a real working man would be ashamed to do something like that...even if he could barely afford what he's eating.

Prolly alot of truth to that, and sadly, there are many with that mentality out there.

I like chili dogs, with French's mustard and LOTS of onion.

Wish I could find a buffet with 'em.

    I'd put a dent in that day's P&L !

    Doug,

I was a member of a volunteer fire department in a small town in Texas years ago. We would have ten cent hot dogs with a donation bucket sitting out front. This is how we would raise money.

Some of the poorest folks in town would buy a hot dog, and drop a few dollars in the donation bucket.

The richest guy in town would buy four dogs for 40 cents and never donate a penny to us. We would usually do this at the parking lot of the local grocery story for a week at a time. He would come everyday for the week and do the same thing.

He later ran for mayor and was defeated soundly. He couldn't understand why.

Once I was in Pizza Hut for the lunch buffet and sat next to a mooch that would fill his plate up with pizza slices and just eat the topping off of the crust. The crust he simply disgarded into an empty plate. He must have gone through about 30 slices like this.

Took Sandy and the grandkids up to the local Dickies BBQ for lunch. We know the manager and eat there at least once a week, sometimes more.

They have an area where they put out onions, peppers, bake potato fixings, and lettuce, tomato and such for the hamburgers they sell. It also has the dressings for the salads they sell up in the food line.

Two middle aged folks, well dressed and by all appearances, well off, came in to eat. The woman didn't go through the food service line and just came and sat down. The man went through the line and came to the table with a meat and vegetable on a plate.

I noticed he had used a larger baked potato plate for his bread plate. He put his bread on his plate and handed the woman the other plate. She went up to the relish bar and took ALL of the shredded lettuce for the hamburgers, added all of the tomato slices for the hamburgers, added most of the bacon bits as well as a lot of the green onion for the baked potatoes and topped it off with some of the ranch dressing for the salads you have to pay for. When she was done, she had made herself a very large salad.

They ate, then on their way out, they both rinsed out their 32oz. to go cups and stopped at the soft serve ice cream machine and filled both of them full with soft serve. They then left, climbed in their Lincoln Navigator and left.

Wow. A free salad and a half gallon of ice cream when they obviously had the resources to pay for them. I hope they can sleep with themselves because I consider that stealing.

The ice cream machine took another 30 minutes to freeze up to a thick enough state in would stay on the cones they furnish for the kids.

I mentioned to our friend what I saw them do, and she said she knew it because they always do it. She said the bad thing is, if she says anything to them, they may put out a lot of bad word on the place that could cost them business. She said, if someone says they found a bug in their food at Joe's Grill, most folks will just believe them and never go to Joe's Grill again, and tell everyone else they know the same thing. She said, sometimes for the sake of the business, you just have to turn a blind eye.

All that tells me is I couldn't run a food place as a business. I would call their hand on it and tell them not to ever come back. I would be closed down in a week!

Thieves come in all kinds of packages!

Most of the time I agree with you completly, this time I got to say WAHHHHHH BOOHHH HOOOOOH. GIven today's conditions, you do what you've got to do to survie, as long as its not at the expense of others. This is not the case of an expense of others as I see it.

That kinda stuff gripes me to no end. We had a "Safety" dinner once at work. Ribeyes and all the fixin's. I ate my steak and had to go to the restroom. I heard someone in the stall barfing. I thought, it must not have agreed with him. Saw him come out later and eat two more steaks! Ain't cared for that guy since.

Wouldn't the business owners be considered "others" impacted by this greedy couple? I sure think it was an unwarranted expense to them!

If they both paid $9.95, what's wrong with what they are doing? One of our local restaurants serves crab legs on their buffet in Saturday nighy. Lots of people go just for the crab legs. I see no problem with it as long as you have paid for it. And how many crab legs can you eat in an hour? Takes me that long to shell one of the dang things!

    BS Flag!

It is certainly an expense to the business owner...and believe me when I say that expense gets passed down to the consumer

The crab leg folks and the pizza-topping guy may be on a high protien low carb diet. Give them a break. If they paid for an "all you can eat buffet" that's what they should get.

I did hear a story one time about a couple on a low carb diet who were thrown out of a resturant after going back for their 12th serving of meat. Manager said "buffet" is a style of serving, not a quantity, and hen had not advertised "all you can eat" anywhere.

    Heff,

Wht don't you write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper and tell what happened -- and how you feel about what they did. In my opinion, one person stole a meal!

I have a problem with people who only pay for one buffet and share with everyone. I have no problem with someone who can eat more in food value than the price of the buffet.

It is reassuring to know that even while having lunch with the wife and the grandkids you are able to dedicate time to what those around you are doing as well as their keeping tabs on their eating habbits.
