my brother tipped a tractor on its side in a narrow bridge long time ago..... my cousin got a 4 wheel drive side ways and hanging over the edge of a narrow bridge.....wrecked one tire and rim on it
thats a hell of a lot of money sitting in the creek .....my guess is the tractor with triples didn't quite fit through the bridge.....and kinda looks like it could be in western SD.....haven't heard of such a deal though...0 -

It looks like he was trying to get over for an on coming vehicle and didn't see the bridge in front of him/her.
I also wonder if that seeder was full of seed and fertilizer, that would have made it several ton heavier.
Then again, there is nothing quite like seeing a big green tractor with a $125,000 seeder in a creek. [:D]
I think if I did that, I would have hid under the bridge cause my dad would have blown a top.0 -
4wd tractor pulling an air seeder...first 1/2 is drill with press wheels & second 1/2 is bulk seed tender...friend has one & plants wheat & soybeans at 40ft. a pass...cost him around $70k...cant tell tractor model but over $100k...not a good move for job security 0 -

we always had insurance, and it was $500 deductable. It came in handy at times when some lady hit our hired and and they didn't have insurance. It came in handy when a wagon came unhitched and took down a power poll.
It also came in handy when the case 2590 started up at 4 in the morning by itself, in gear, with a implement on behind it. It took out a bin drier and some other stuff.0 -

This might be a good time for the operator of the tractor to consider a career change, maybe in another country. Really though, it is no different than any other accident meaning something went horribly wrong. Wouldn't want to have to explain it if it were me though. 0 -
beyond me how the air seeder is farther in the creek than the tractor
the tractor is a 9400 the cart is a 1900 or 1910 looks like a 350 bushell cart with a 46ft 1820 toolbar dont think its a 54 ft.
you red guys crack me up....[:D] how long has John deere been in business.....hmmmmmmmmm....[:D] lets try about 170 years and havent stayed in business that long with no signs of going under because they make junk......LOL0 -
I had a few close calls on tractors when I was younger and still on the farm,but close only counts in horse shoes. The worst that ever happened was I got the turd hearse and tractor stuck in a field. It was spring thaw and the frost had just left the ground.Buried the tractor pretty deep. After a few days it was dry enough to pull it out.
Still kind of miss farming.Gramps always said it was a pretty good way to make a living if a feller didn`t want much.0 -

Cowdoc - my bet is the guy was coming down the hill (fast) and hit the bridge timber on the right side. the bridge timber blew out the tire when he hit hard, then (or during) the guy tried to jerk the tractor back onto the road. His speed, the weight of the implement and the articulation of the tractor caused a jack-knife that spun the tractor around the opposite direction it was headed and flipped the seeder into the creek.
Kind of makes you sick to look at it. But of course it is a MEAN GREEN MACHINE, so they will just drive it out in a few minutes, air up the tire, get the chain and flip the stuff back upright and go plant the north 40....[:D]0 -

It did, the solenoid was bad, it had been bad for months. Thats the only thing besides someone starting it and putting it in gear that we could think of. It caused two things, one always putting the tractor in park and two changing easily fixable bad parts instead of shorting with a wrench.0 -
Texaswildman, your pry right and thats kinda what i first thought till you look at all the pics and the fence posts are all intact rightup until the edge of the creek at least from what a guy can make out from pics.......i have a JD air seeder with tow behind tanks and that a hell of a lot of weight way back there.....sure could get you in a lot of trouble if it took off on you when full of grain and fertilizer....i pull a 42ft 1850 which in my guess quite a bite heavier than the shank type 1820 and would have harder time dragging equipment around...anyways thats a lot of dollars in equipment in not so good of shape and hopefully the operator didn't get hurt......the tractor though from the looks of the pics is pry not hurt to bad.....though when i trade my 4wd off for a 9400 i'll be lookin for damage signs[:D] 0 -

My father's air seeder has a top box, and its a case, much heavier then the John Deere seeders. With a tender on the back end like that, how easy is it to get it to bounce when you are going down the road, either full or not? I would think there might be some considerable movement and bouncing between the seeder and tender if you were going to fast on a bumpy road, like the one in the picture.0 -
shoff..after looking at it many times i would guess they was coming down the hill and the cart got to whipping back and forth pry because the guy figured out to late he wasn't lined up with bridge dead center or seen he wasn't going to fit through and once you get something that heavy whipping around you would be screwed.....the cart got off to the side of ditch and pulled everything with it....all the narrow bridges around here that now have been taken out was only fourteen to sixteen feet wide.....no where near wide enough for tractor with triples.....for sure was operator error 0 -

Worst I did as a kid was try to "rake" a power pole in to the windrow. My dad and uncle thought it was funny in the end, but it was next to the highway and I was sure that everyone that drove by knew it was me. Man was I embarrassed.
The poor guy with the JD long green line is going to be standing at the bank asking the banker for a long green line of $100 bills to fix that baby!0 -

When you say whip, I say bounce, I am meaning the same thing. This was my assumption also. Sometimes you can drive too fast for a road and by the time you figure it out its usually to late. The old John Deere 750 we had would bounce around on your if you were not careful on some roads. Same as some hopper wagons, all though I know you guys in the west don't use wagons as much as we did in Ohio.0 -
