Which war movie(s) do you like best?

All Quiet on the Western Front: Timeless.
Kakoda: Best 'Guts' war movie!
Das Boot: Held my breath through half of it.
Pork Chop Hill: Left me speechless - every time.
Zulu: Over and over and over again.
Apocalypse Now: Brings it back.
The African Queen: My first - with Dad.
Glory: Strain/grit my teeth with the 54th all the way to the ramparts - every damned time!
Lawrence of Arabia: Another one I can watch over and over - awesome!

Saving Private Ryan
It was the first movie since Platoon that made me feel it. I could hear those bullets panging into the barricades on the beach and feel the sand in my clothes. And I appreciate the "Earn it" message. I definitely give a similar nod to Glory. The message I hear from that movie is: What do we do? Ante up & kick in like men.0 -

that I don't ordinarily recall as important to me and 'contraire monsieur' ... they
are!
Reading the thread I count Tora Tora Tora, The Longest Day, Letters From Iwo Jima
The Patriot, The General (Dad's favorite, as a kid), Patton, The Longest Day, Stalag 17
(saw it as a kid with my dad and his best friend who was housed in Luft Stalag (some
number) and I remember listen to his remembrances about it far into the night, We Were
Soldiers ... never forget Sam Elliott's quote about `youngins' calling him `gramps' and his
stand with a 1911 as they were overrun, Sergeant York ... Cooper was absolutely super
...........
and there are so many more that I can remember bits and pieces of whose titles have been long forgotten.
Remember the Young Lions? The last scene when Dean Martin dusted `Herr (Marlin) Brando' with a couple of well placed shots from an M1 as Brando had just smashed his MP40 against a rock (log?)
... so many ... so good.
DAMN!!! WAR MOVIES! Gotta LOV'EM!!![:D]

Must say "Tora Tora Tora" was far better than "Pearl Harbour".
Same story - just different angle.
Guess it was nice to see the japaneese side of it all for a change.0
