Why did Humans Evolve
to were they need to wear clothes?
I thought we would have evolved to have some fur or something to keep us warm and protect us from the environment.
Instead we evolved to where we need to wear clothes.
I am really stumped on this evolutional point.

Elimination of body hair decreased incidence of parasites.
Ever notice you can get lice and crabs, but only in places where you have hair?
The use of clothing made body hair un-neccesary, it also reduced protein requirements, as growing hair uses up enery and protein.
Getting rid of hair increased odds of survival, and their hairless reproduced better.
Hair on your head protects your scalp from UV, and insulates your head, (guess people hadn't invented hats while this evolution was going on- hairstyle and sexual selection may have something to do with it)
As to why pubic hair remained..... I have no f-cking idea, and arse hair seems to be the stupidest thing ever0 -

...sort of like me or another Christian saying "God created man exactly as outlined in Scripture"...show me where He did not.
You cannot do it and that is why it's called the Theory of Evolution. Until it's proven, you must precursor your statements with "I believe"...at least on this site anyway. That's one of the posting rules here.[;)] It takes more faith to believe in the Theory of Evolution than it does to believe in God. I choose to believe in God...and in His account of Creation.look, I'm not going to play this game with you again. I show you these irrefutable facts, and you just ignore them or quit responding altogether, you have before, and say "us christians can't be proven wrong!" before you scurry off. I'm not going to waste my time on you again spelling it all out all over again. so here is a link to where I spelled it out word-for-word to this other dude.
your god is disproven because none of what is said in your "holy book" is true. there are proven facts to the contrary.
http://forums.gunbroker.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=258892
I do not have to say "I believe..." before I state the facts. and the facts that disprove your beliefs, have been scientifically proven. read the link again. http://forums.gunbroker.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=258892
you do, becasue they remain unproven, acknowledged even by yourself as unprovable (to suit your own arguments), and it's just a belief. nothing more. it does not take faith to believe in the facts that disprove your beliefs.
and again, I'll remind you of what happened last time I tried to show you how you were wrong.

Are you people REALLY enjoying this?
If so, email me and I will consider unlocking the thread, or ECC can unlock it, but this topic is tiresome to read. Bound to be tiresome to actually be a part of.quote:Originally posted by ECC, without replying at all to buschmaster
I agree David...it certainly took a turn for the worse. Let it disappear into the old pages...thread locked.

lemme tell ya, since these experiences with you, my regard of your moral integrity has gone decidedly downhill.
I guess it all has to do with perception Bushmaster...which is one of the reasons I'm glad we left that last thread locked....instead of letting it degrade further and risk getting poofed. I wanted to make sure that folks could read your posts on the subject...I wanted them to be able to see your reasoning. I doubt you could get the staunchest Evolutionist on this board to back your arguments and line of reasoning in the threads you outlined. If there were any posts that I did not specifically answer, it was b/c I did not feel they needed an answer...it was b/c the reasoning you used was answer enough. I guess it all comes down to perspective...you thought you won these debates, and I am quite sure you did not. I am glad that they are still here for folks to read and figure it out for themselves.
BTW...yes, you do have to use the precursor "I believe" when discussing matters of faith...the Theory of Evolution included...violations will be poofed.0 -
when man existed in the garden, there was no sin. when man sinned, he clothed himself to hide his shame.
just one more living proof that GOD EXIST's. people wear clothes to this day to hide their shame. funny how it is, that man and woman hid their reproductive organs and nothing else. because the gift of new life comes from GOD. it starts there. when they sinned, they attempted to hide where GODS GIFT OF LIFE begins.
and wouldnt you know it? even to this day, when man/woman move FURTHER AWAY from GOD, the fear of not being clothed disipates. more and more porn, smut, and showing of privates prevails. sad....i can assure you it doesnt please GOD, but these people sure are entertaining the DEVIL.
what man takes for pleasure, satin takes serious. he'll do anything to KILL YOU and keep you from GOD. and its for this reason smut is on the rise. he has set many traps to catch us. learn how to recognize them and avoid them.
stay clothed. shame the devil.[;)]
and dont argue with GOD...youll lose every time.0 -
satin takes serious
And if you think satin is serious, wait until you run into polyester.0 -

you're lying to me. you didn't want to answer becasue you know I'm right and you're wrong, and you don't have a leg to stand on. "the stunchest evolutionist on the board?" ya right prove it. show me how they wouldn't.
the earth is 4.2 billion years old.
that's a fact. are you going to poof it?
the earth did require millions of years to form, not just 6 days.

dinosaurs did exist.

Pretty simple really. You and all lliving things have a "blueprint" for making more of you locked within your DNA. This blueprint cannot be changed (like say a blueprint for a building being built) except by some accident (radation, chemical, random mutation, etc.) Such accidents usually make the future "you" be less fit for everything. This means that you can feel a need in your enviroment for warm clothing, more body hair, more fat, etc. But your off-spring wil not ever change becasue of that need you feel becasue that blueprint locked inside your body is ot aware of it.
Just as you could exercise like a manic, build huge muscles, but your son that would be born soon after would look no different than if you had not developed those muscles.0 -
Oh boy do I miss the times when there were only one moderator here...
and not several on a rampage who poofs left and right, locks threads by the bunch claiming "it was a joke"0 -

So...how come there are still apes?
Are the apes we know today exactly like the ones millions of years ago?
Probably not. There would be different branches in the evolutionary tree, inhabited by different species that evolve as there is a need.0 -

How about this...Are you going to prove it??? Bush...you have to understand that you are making claims that cannot be proven...none of these statements are accepted as fact...even within the scientific community.0 -

BTW...yes, you do have to use the precursor "I believe" when discussing matters of faith...the Theory of Evolution included...violations will be poofed.what would you take as fact, that you would say is beyond "faith", has been PROVEN to be true?
you MUST accept as a fact what has been PROVEN beyond a doubt what scientists have discovered through scientific research.
I will tell you that the earth took millions of years to form. THAT IS A FACT. not a theory, not a hypothesis, IT IS A FACT. there is an astrophysiological research paper somewhere, that tells you EXACTLY how old they think it is, within what degree of error, what methods they used to determine their results, and references to the other studies that came up with such methods in the first palce.
the study and the results were cross-checked by other scientists.
there are also further research papers where the results were reproduced by other scientists to prove their validity.
and YOU, who thinks some bearded guy lives in the sky and will fall out of the clouds some day in a diferent incarnation, would ignore what has been discovered by studied, learned professionals who spend their entire lives working on such problems????
you know nothing. you are a child living a fantasy.
what you say "god" did, did not happen. what you believe in is not true.
and I don't have to put a "I believe that..." in front of it. because it's TRUE. it's a fact.
a simple fact. what you say "god" did, did not happen. are you going to ignore that, like everything else you said you ignored in your post above?0 -

Bush...once again, you've proven my point...I'll let most of your posts speak for themselves. Rest assured, if I will respond to any of your posts that I feel need a rebuttal.0 -
and you're proving what I been saying about you, ...and I found myself saying that before too. problem is, that doesn't help with the discussion with what I'm trying to get across to you.
no matter what I say it just isn't true, is it. because you don't want it to be.
you don't have to respond to that. I know what the answer is. we both do.0 -
First of all you have to take a huge leap of faith to believe that humans actually evolved from ape...Remember it is a theory, not a proven fact. 0 -

TRUE !
but after reading every note in this topic, i am not so sure some have evolved, but if anyone wants to claim a monkey as his ancestor, i have no doubt you are correct !!
personally i believe i was created in GODs immage.0 -
10,000 years slavery in the Arkadian Copper Mines and you would lose your hair too. 0 -
quote:...sort of like me or another Christian saying "God created man exactly as outlined in Scripture"...show me where He did not.
And that Eric clearly defines the problem with all belief systems. Apriory assumptions. Before I must prove that god did not create man, you must prove there is a god. Can't be done. In the end you say, "God is, was and ever shall be." but god is not proveable by any means known to science, which is why science does not have anything to say about god or gods whoever she may be.
Likewise we cannot possibly know what sparked the instant of change from prion to pretein, from unliving matter to living matter. All we can be certain of is that energy is was and presumably ever shall be, since energy can be neither created nor destroyed, only changed.
As to man evloving "from" the apes, I have bad news: Man is an ape. Look it up fellow bubbas, man is listed as one species among the anthropoid apes. We did not evolve from apes, we evolved as apes, from an ancestor common to the chimpanzee about 5 million years ago, give or take a week or two, and from an ancestor common to the gorillas even longer ago.0
