Why did Humans Evolve
to were they need to wear clothes?
I thought we would have evolved to have some fur or something to keep us warm and protect us from the environment.
Instead we evolved to where we need to wear clothes.
I am really stumped on this evolutional point.

I am really stumped on this evolutional point.why give a serious reply? you won't respond.
One assumes that an evolutionary change in an animal takes much time and energy to complete. One also assumes that a change occures to further secure the continuence of the species.
>>why, no! God winked his Mighty Eyeball and made it so.
So tell me this;
why would the ancester of modern man evolved the reproductive system that we now see in females? Think about menstration and the cave girls. Do your chances of survival actually increase by once a month having your females smell like a wounded animal to bears, lions and all other predators? Effectively bringing predators right to your door step? Now of course the men during this time would have to stop their hunting and gathering, at least in part to defend the females from the animals that are sure to be drawn by the smell of fresh blood each and every month, if not every day of every month. So is this really the best idea that evolution could come up with? To invite attacks from predators?
>>menstruation cleans the womb to prepare it for reproduction. you don't have a clue what you're talking about. instead you make fun of cavewomen with smelly vaginas. just like a monkey, that you say we didn't evolve from. ook! ook! ook!
But at least evolution was kind enough to go through the trouble of evolving a hymen within the female so that her cave husband knew that she was pure on their wedding night.
>>typical creationist thinking. I suppose your car drives itself too.0 -
quote:Did'nt homo sapiens (we) need a nice fur in that case when we lived in africa then....Or what about the africans...
Remember that while our DNA is more than 99% identical to that of the chimpanzee and about 97% identical to that of the gorilla, clearly there is a lot going on in that <1%. We diverged from their lineage about 5 million years ago, prior to the emergence of homo sapiens and prior, in fact, to homo. Australapicines did have hair so far as we know, and the hair has been lost since.
Evolutionarily speaking, what seems to lead to certain extinction, is specialization. The more specialized an organism (really a species, or more exactly a lineage) becomes the less flexible it is, and the less able to respond to change. Take for example the green tree python of New Guinea and the tip of Cape York on Australia. It is a snake that has evolved to live in primary forest, green above, yellow below, some with blue or white scales scattered above. Stands out like a sore thumb in a Walmart, but put one in a tree and it disappears. They are adapted to drape over branches, have a prehensile tail for hanging on, elongated front teeth to hold prey, because they onely get one chance. They feed largely on birds, but take rodents, small marsupials, and lizards as well. They essentially never come to ground except to lay eggs, and they maneuver poorly there. Now imagine all of the forest is cut down...
Man has evolved largely as a generalist, with his big brain being his primary adaptation for survival. Seems to be working at least until lately.0 -
Wearing clothes has nothing to do with genetic evolution, it has to do with cultural evolution and sociological evolution. Clothing has been an icon of stature/importance and worth for thousands of years now. The richest, politically ranked, religious leaders and otherwise elite members of society wore the finest, best woven and most extravagantly decorated linens.
I'm living proof that some humans should wear clothes. I'm only the second member in my family to walk upright! There are other samples of this human race for whom clothing should be legally optional

It's because if I don't wear something my Male Member would drag around and be a bother. Don't you have that problem too?[:D]

Apes have fur - humans evolved from apes. Some apes have very little fur.
As humans evolved (from apes) and their capacity for memory increased, they were able to better use the environement and lose traits that were no longer necessary. In this case, excess hair.
Can you quantify that statement, Sir? If not, according to the rules, your post will be deleted.
You may have evolved from an ape, but I did not. And that's a fact.0 -

I say prove it, facts are irrefutable unlike hypotheses, theories and biblical fairy tales0 -

ah but I did not call evolution or creation a fact.
To me evolution is a theory, a logical explanation based on groups of facts, one that has room to be improved or disproved in parts. If you say something is a fact you say that it is absolute truth (like when you drop something, it falls down all the time)0 -

Ok lets start at the beginning.
Where did evolution begin?0 -
evolution began with the first molecules that you could call life. the first one that reproduced itself -and continued to do so sucessfully- made the step from non-life to life. that was the first step of evolution.
wanna tell us how the big man in the sky made the earth and... the sky?0 -
Where did those molecules come from? 0 -

Bush...you need to qualify that with "I believe..."
Let's stick to the facts here...0 -
I don't know where I came from in the far distand past. Maybe there's similarities....

...sort of like me or another Christian saying "God created man exactly as outlined in Scripture"...show me where He did not.
You cannot do it and that is why it's called the Theory of Evolution. Until it's proven, you must precursor your statements with "I believe"...at least on this site anyway. That's one of the posting rules here.[;)] It takes more faith to believe in the Theory of Evolution than it does to believe in God. I choose to believe in God...and in His account of Creation.0 -
Kinda off topic but my Toyota Corolla evolved from a turtle. 0 -

but asking why presumes there is a predetermined goal of evolution. There is not;
so according to the "theory of evolution", we humans are still evolving and there is yet to be an even higher form of human life?0 -

I show you these irrefutable facts, and you just ignore them or quit responding altogether, you have before, and say "us christians can't be proven wrong!" before you scurry off. I'm not going to waste my time on you again spelling it all out all over again. so here is a link to where I spelled it out word-for-word to this other dude.
your god is disproven because none of what is said in your "holy book" is true. there are proven facts to the contrary.
http://forums.gunbroker.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=258892
I do not have to say "I believe..." before I state the facts. and the facts that disprove your beliefs, have been scientifically proven. read the link again. http://forums.gunbroker.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=258892
you do, becasue they remain unproven, acknowledged even by yourself as unprovable (to suit your own arguments), and it's just a belief. nothing more. it does not take faith to believe in the facts that disprove your beliefs.
and again, I'll remind you of what happened last time I tried to show you how you were wrong.
