Glock hate
I see alot of Glock hate on this forum. Why? I own several Glocks and they are the least finnicky gun I own. They aren't pretty I'll give you that, however their performance is amazing. Not one of my Glocks has jammed on me. I can't say the same for my Colt Defender, Sig P-220, or my wifes XD. They require very little attention. They are accurate also.
Give me one good reason why they aren't solid firearms.

I think its mostly a case of no being able to please everyone all the time. You'll always run across some that don't like any given thing.0 -

Why? It'd be much easier to get parts and ammo once SHTF [:p]0 -
Glock lover over here. The guns are simple, fast and reliable for self defense. God, I should hate them to. 0 -

That's interesting.
Ditched Glock 23 for Kimber Ultra CDP which I sometimes carry chambered with hammer up and safety on.
Not unlike the Glock.0 -

Can't speak for everyone, obviously. I never owned one but handled and shot a few and I liked my XD or soon to be mine HK better.
Also, I never heard anyone complain XD's reliability. I already put a few thousand rounds through mine and haven't had a single problem. And as I mentioned a while ago here I was able to hit a man sized target consistently at 100 yards with my 9mm XD. But it's not about XD, it's about Glock, so I am not aware of any reason to hate Glock, especially for me. Ask me after I buy one in a couple of months [;)]0 -

I was talking about this to a friend of mine today. We were discussing 1911 and AR owners, who are among the most opinionated. (He has a 1911; I have an AR, and hope to get a 1911 soon.) I think it's just blatant prejudice on most counts. I have no problem with that. (My blatant prejudice: I hate Taurus guns. all of them.) Part of it is because Glock owners get defensive of their Glocks pretty quick, and its fun to poke them. Some don't like them just because they're not made in America. Some don't like them because of their popularity with "gangstas" that hold the things sideways and rappers "sing" about them. 0 -
I also see women and the uninformed (Not that there is anything wrong with either) want a Glock as their first pistol just because its a *Glock*
I believe its name recognition way out paces its merits as a stand out among pistols.0 -
Hate is such a strong word[:D]
I dislike them because they just don't feel right to me. 1911 style for me.0 -
for all the plastic bashers..fact..17% of a Glock is polymer..the rest yep, steel, I just bought a model 31 a week or so ago,so far as others have said it has never failed to perform w/75rds put thru it so far...I thought I wouldn't like it as well as other pistols I own.but I'm starting to like it more everytime I shoot it.[:D]..Loko 0 -

it is ignorance, and i can say that because i was once a glock hater, then i came to my senses
it has several internal safeties that work very well, you'll will hear this debate from the same guy that swears by a revolver which has none
cleaning is a breeze if you clean it at all, i know a guy personally that went 10,000 rounds with no cleaning, and only takes 5 minutes tops
everyone claims in a high stress situation your fine motor skills are impaired{heard it here several times} glock takes care of that, point and shoot
reloads are like cheating with that big magazine well
parts are cheap if you ever need them
glock customer service is second to none, unbelievable turn around and courtesy
i hated the way they look and feel, pointing it was different, i bought one, 3 months later i made ssp master in i.d.p.a. 20,000+ rounds later i have yet to have a malfunction
look at the internals of a xd, m&p and hk it has glock written all over it, why not own the original, i own several other handguns including a 2,000 dollar wilson combat , there is a glock 34 in my bedroom, glock is the ak47 of handguns0 -

You got the .357 sig right loko? and i believe you payed under 400 for it? Thats the perfect glock, except for the caliber, im just not a fan of the .357 sig. I think its just a matter of prejudice, when i show up at the range with my AK and theres 6 ar's shooting at 50 yards, i like to send my target out to 75 yards. Seems like they dont think an ak can be accurate past 25 yards....0 -
i dont hate glock. i just dont prefer them and like to poke at those easily aggitated by it, its is fun. 0 -

I had one of the early ones, and it was JUNK! Went back to the factory three times for repair, the last for cracked rails. I sold it after that repair.
I don't HATE glock, I just know they are overrated and nothing special despite all of the Glock LOVERS claims.
I'll stick with good quality, metal frame guns. I'm not going to drag them through sand or run over them with a truck or any of that other foolishness that Glock owners like to brag about.0 -

Glocks are better pistols than Hi-Points, but the Hi-Point has a better warranty. 0 -

You mean like the Sig stress test?
I look at my guns like this. My P220 is my caddy. Smooth shooting and a beautifull gun in my opinion.
My Glocks are my workhorses. I abuse them and use them a ton and they never fail. I can't say the same for my high dollar guns like my Defender or even my P220 (even thought my P220 is my favorite gun). I have over 8,000 rounds through my Glock 19 and have not had one misfire or jam or any issue at all for that matter. The best part of it they cost half of what other high quality guns cost.0 -
We really shouldn't let our guns get dry and dirty, but we do.
If we do it with a SIG, we are still reasoably well armed. If we let our Glock get dry, we end up with a pistol that has to be manipulated for each shot by whacking it on the rear of the slide.
I am not making it up. This is what I have seen on our range.0 -

You mean without oil? Thats strange, I have more issues with my Sig then with my Glock running dry. I oil my Sig up quite a bit and it runs well. I put a few drops of oil on certain places on my Glock and it runs without problem.
I take it you're one of the Glock haters huh? [;)]0 -

I don't hate Glocks, I had a very, very bad gun from them and don't wish to own any more. I also don't abuse anything, even the competition pistols that I used to fire 3000 rounds a month through.
I've never worn out a gun, and I have no need for a gun I can bury in the sand for a month, come back and dig up, then shoot it.
To each his own. I'm not impressed with them, they cover up their problems like the poor quality of their first pistols and their much higher than average kabooms, and they seem to have a cult following.
I was very unsatisfied with my Glock, and I am very satisfied with all of the rest of the guns I own. I just don't want or need a Glock, and I know for a fact from personal experience that they are not the Godsend of guns like some claim. They are just another gun, Nothing more, nothing less.0 -
1911's were killing people long before Gaston Glock was ever born.[:o)][;)][}:)] 0 -
I would refer some of you folks to a 50 some page thread on ARFKOM wherein a fella dunked his G21 in mud, wall plaster, a mix of both, tossed it from an airplane into a field, ran over it, drug it behind a vehicle, even SHOT IT WITH A .22.
HK's USP, for all it's hype, choked once it got muddy. XDs, don't even get me started, a wannabe glock with 40 more parts.
It's a crazy thread, and shows that there isn't any other pistol which will handle as much abuse and still function.

Nope, not a hater, just don't care to own one, and reporting what I have actually observed. SIGs work when dry and Glocks don't. Actually, I wouldn't own a SIG if it weren't given to me. I kinda like a Colt Commander, myself.0 -

And, my point is, have you ever done this to your Glock, would you let someone do this to your Glock, or have you ever known of anything like this done to a Glock for anything other than demonstration?
Then why on God's green earth does anyone need a Glock? If I find a truck that will let me put it in low gear and hold the accelerator on the floor for a 1000 miles without blowing up the engine, what does it gain me? I'm not going to drive it like that, EVER.
The argument doesn't hold water.0 -

Glocks have a tendency to penetrate thin underbellys fairly easily.[:o)]0
