USS Kitty Hawk denied entry into Hong Kong
This chaff's my a$$. We (the consumers) are subsidizing this crap!!!!! We're doing our Cristmas shopping this weekend and it looks like all my 9 year old daughter is getting is Lego's (still made in Sweden or Norway or wherever). I'll be damned if she's getting a new Chicom made bike. Do they still make kid's bikes in the U.S. of A? Maybe I'll do what my g-pa did when I was a kid. Steal a grocery cart and make a go-cart out of it. Just have to make sure it's a grocery cart from wal-mart!!!!!!

I was under the impression that no US Naval vessels which were nuclear powered or could possibly be armed with nuclear weapons (the Navy never confirms which ships have nukes) were allowed to dock in New Zealand for the past 20 years...Where was the GB gang on this one? 0 -

For the past year or two the US has been inviting Chinese Navy ships to Guam, Hawaii, and the States to port.
They better rethink that policy. Admiral Keating is THE person that said Russia and China pose no threat to the United States thus he closed down Cheyenne Mountain.

New Zealand, China, or any other country not actually at war with the United States has the absolute right to deny access to their ports for any reason or without any reason at all. That's not what happened here. USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63) is not nuclear powered, by the way.
China had given permission to enter port and arrangements for port services had been made. People spent money and jumped through hoops to visit family in port. Adult beverage vendors and managers of horizontal recreation establishments had made arrangements to receive the fleet. Then China withdrew permission to enter port. Then they granted permission again. China was hurt more by this decision than the United States was.
I don't know the reason for this decision. What the Chinese don't understand about Americans is that Americans don't understand the Chinese, but I'd bet the house that whoever made this decision had a reason. If they are unhappy about something they need to put it in plain words. We aren't very good at subtleties. I would not be surprised to find out later that whoever made this decision has a bullet in the back of his head.
In my opinion, New Zealand has better liberty ports than Hong Kong, but I would still be more than willing to boycott New Zealand. My problem is I can't find anything made in New Zealand to refuse to buy. Kiwi shoe polish is an Australian product.0 -
