I am actaully just a citizen that cares tremendously on how the future of the firearm market is. Lets say this you have a friend that tells you he has a high def tv he wants you to sell for him so you say ok. you contact another dude that is interested and it all looks great but then then the dude with the tv steps over your head and goes directly to the other guy. You would be very pissed. There is such a thing in buisiness called conflict of interest which this all falls under to a T. The other stuff is simply working within the confinements of the law which as you can see has not been done. Yes lying and cheating happens all the time but does it mean it is right to do so. I know that if i had a choice on who to deal with i would not go with the person who i know is lying and willing to take my dinner off my table to make a dollar. AS to your response yes it is buisiness but that is it just buisiness with no ethics. This all in turn hurts the dealers who are the ones helping to keep a strong market now i ask you what kind of buisiness would you rather have, if you worked for a distributer would you and they had this kind of conflict of interest and law how long would you like to work there. The given fact is most can sleep at night knowing they are screwing others but i cannot, my only satisfaction in life is knowing i am honest and knowing i will not walk on my brothers so i can get a dollar. You have already stated what you are.

I would be happy to see all requirements for a dealers license go away.

Gun shops did just fine before the Gun Control Act of 1968. They based their business on customer service back then. Lots of long time gun shops existed when there was no license needed to acquire a gun at all.

I think a lot of them started to close when it got harder for people to buy guns. Then, many people gave up on buying them and gun shops were not needed as much to supply them with all the accessories, ammo and the like that the people needed to shoot them.

Since GCA-68 took effect, it has hurt the gun business, not helped it. Less and less people get involved with shooting every year. And we are quickly losing our status as "a nation of riflemen".

This may not make you very happy, but if you think about it, it is prety hard to dispute.

One more thing what i learned about firearms dealers is yes there are quite a few that play games but for the most part i find most of them to be very strong willed people who care more about the citizens of their neighborhoods than the local governments. The fact is if it wasnt for the dealers we very likely could be a communist country by now. What i want is the rights guaranteed by our constitution and the laws obeyed that are provided withing the bill of rights. The battle for these rights to be restored is not an easy walk and when firearms companies including manufacturers, distributers, and retailers work around the laws in there own ways it does nothing but hurt what we all want.

A simple person going to the shop to buy a firearm should disregard this it means nothing to you unless you like norinco shotguns which is a problem within itself. This apllies to dealers who have a right to know what they are up against.

I think you are right about the whole gun requirements law for the dealers. The major problem with gun industry is profits on new firearms. Most dont know that a dealer is considered lucky to make 20 dollars on a new glock. There are so many things holding back the dealers such as law however they still have to be followed until more rights are argued and fought for. The big problem however like i said is profit margins do you have any idea how many gunshops can actually afford insurance, maybe only 5 percent. IF you love you gun and love your freedom continue to hold both dear and true and support you local dealers by helping insure that they can stay in buisiness.

tell that to the guys in calif that have to pay there dealers 50 to 100 just to do a transfer.

The gun industry is in the same boat as the american automobile industry and for the same reasons. Too many dealers, dealers not serving customer needs, poor marketing, no one has a clue how to compete on anything but price. Many dealers view a customer walking through the door as a sucker to be taken for everything possible and not as a long-term partner. Certainly there are exceptions but these statements are generally correct.

Auto dealers faced this same problem a long time ago. They realized that they could not make any money selling new cars. Now the auto dealers aggressively take in trade-ins, provide financing, sell tons of accessories, and have expanded service offerings. Gun retailers can do the same and the smart retailers are back to a point where they can make a living in the gun business.

This is capitalism. The dinosaurs died off because they were unable to adapt and in the same way businesses die off if they are unable to adapt. No business has a "right" to exist. You have to pay your dues every day to earn your place. The gun industry is going through a transition and the smart retailers will embrace change, put effort into revitalizing their businesses, and come out stronger in the end.

my last statement then you all can argue, i wish there was an edit tab but there isnt so now i am spamming. AS far as cutting out the middlemans pocket you would not ever save a dime by buying direct off the distributer and in fact would get a better deal at a gunshop no matter what the case. I personally want the firearms to be sold direct from the manufacturer to the public however at this point it would be nearly impossible to change the market in that way in such a short time. The only answer is to try to get this market back thriving again by cutting out the unecessary, here again this cannot be done overnight it would hurt so many american families who are employed by the resposible distributers. The only way for this whole market to get back going is for the dealers to work with each other not against and try their hardest to weed out the people that are out to hurt their business not help it grow.

that certain things can change by human hands and that we should just let things take thier course and ride out to extinction. I mean crap with that mentality there wouldnt be one bald eagle in this country and its our own national bird. Humans that dont care are the ones responsible for things such as this the whole "well thats just the way it is" mentality. Thank god there wasnt more of that back in the 1700's when we had a quarrel with a country called england. You might want to read up on it, it is called the american revolutionary war it is really interesting to see what a group of people did over just a little tax on tea one day in boston harbor. My rantings are done I am gonna go on maintinaing my other organization that tries to keep dealers working together. By the way i know you cant be southern cause i never heard someone here in GA talk like that.

    Gunlaw-

Your profile indicates you are a firearms dealer. I think we all suspected that. Not that it is a bad thing but when someone here asked, you said you were "just a citizen who cares...".

Why don't you admit you are a dealer? Or do you think it takes away some of your credibility to admit you are a dealer?

    Just asking...

We get the same BAAAAAAAWAAAAAA BS here from dealers trying to get the private sales law changed, They claim that if I sell one of my guns to another person it is cutting into their business, The FFL dealers here want to be the only ones allowed to sell guns to anyone..90 Percent of em will screw the public especially if you dont know much about guns and their value. Some of the stores I have been in and observed do not have price tags on their guns, and I have seen guns sold to unsuspecting customers for much more than they are worth..

Another thing if an FFL dealer feels he cant make it because of compitition, time to get out of the kitchen..

The name of the game is: BUY LOW & SELL HIGH

Any way you can do the within the law is fair game. It might not be ethical, but it's fair game none the less.

not a dealer but worked at a distributer for 0ver 7 years. Like you are saying i met all kinds of dealers ones that will screw you one way or another to other ones that happened to be some of the best people i have met in my entire 47 years of life. Fact is it is people that suck but to me i would rather go to my trusted dealer that i have gotten to know very well and spend 7 dollars on his item than 5 for the same thing at walmart. I should have been more specific and not said all dealers cause there alot of a-hole dealers as well. The thing that i want to prevent is people taking advantage so damn much the government steps in even more and makes it so in order to buy a firearm you have to get it at the white house not your local store. The dealers are falling apart and alot should however find the ones you can trust and help keep them in buisiness. It is a pain in the ass and i will admit it 100 percent however it is the resposible thing to do. Go visit shops like chandler gun shops in valley mills texas and you will never have a reason to ever buy a gun somewhere else. Here is another one that is absoulutely exceptional the gun room in circleville ohio. try to call one of these places and tell them you have a gun that you know nothing about and would like to trade it in make up something valuable nationwide and ask them what its worth. You will get an honest answer. BTW that is the best way to test your dealer call them up with a firearm that you claim you know nothing about and talk to them on what it is worth going in their door and out, this should the first thing you do. When you develop a level of trust you will get what you want and usually they will go out of their way to make it happen such as i did. When i had customers that wanted things i didnt have i found who had it for them in turn they would end up giving me alot more buisiness in the end cause they knew they could trust me. I loved that job more than any and that is why i have gone into politics.

BTW i do know that "backyard dealers" exist in large numbers and they are usually the ones that take bribes to sell firearms to people they know they shouldnt but believe me my organization works on things such as this on a daily basis. In the end it all comes down to lets keep the guns in the hands of the people this is not an industry that any of us can watch fail, our rights depend on it!

Unethical dealers might make some money in the short run but word spreads fast, especially with the internet, and they won't be around long.

I love to support my local dealers, but I am going to buy for the lowest possible price, period. I have an obligation to my family to keep them clothed and fed and therefore my extra cash belongs to them, not in some dealers pocket.
Also, gunlaw, what you are hinting at is completely against the site that hosts this forum. The point of the auction side is that private individuals and dealers from anywhere have an outlet to sell their stock to anyone else that wants it (within the law). What you are driving for is for everyone to buy their guns only from their local dealers, thereby driving this site out of business.
    No, thanks.

I dont expect you all to understand or know that there are many things going on behind the lines to eliminate gun ownership. Most of you have no idea how close the boiling point is to the top. Havent you guys ever wondered why is it so much tougher to get 223 or 7.62. I guess it all just goes right passed your head. Next time the government comes and enforces its new laws if imminant domain and builds a golf course where your house is that your family has owned for 6 generations well i guess you shouldnt have a thing to say about it cause well they are stronger than you and well survival of the fittest is you motto. When they decide that all rifles are now illegal and want to come to your house and take them away what are you gonna do. Done even say it wont happen cause it has and continues to happen. I can see the level of education that is abundant here and quite frankly i cannot tell the guy who has a tough time reading a garfield comic to understand the difference between right and wrong. Next time a faulty norinco blows another persons hands off well i guess oh well who need responsibilty. better yet lets get all of our guns from china that way we can lose more american jobs. wouldnt it be great if we could all just sit back and watch it all dwindle away with a beer in hand. Intelligence is the ability to adapt to any given situation genius is the abilty to change the situation. It is to bad such a few exist and care enough to make sure all get what they deserver and it is to bad that people that just sit back and take things as they come can even equivilate themselves to a human to me personally they are nothing more than rats that belong in places like new york city

I want more auctions, i want more firearms sales, i want more firearms in the hands of people that deserver and know them and if anything steps in the way of allowing this i will speak out on it. I want a full reform so law abiding joe schmoe can go buy a fully auto AK-47 and shoot 1000 rounds off the back of his porch in his underwear without spending 15,000 dollars. Are you understanding me yet? This isnt about keeping money in the hands of the dealers theis about making sure there are enough venues in the future to readily buy a firearm at the lowest possible price. All this bullcrap in between are little divide tactics used by government to keep the industry dwindling, open your eyes. Like i said before i want what all firearms advocates want but there are things getting in the way that are done intentionally to keep us all arguing like this instead of sticking together to make sure our rights are insured. There shouldnt be any reason you cannot sell a firearm to another law abiding citizen, there is no excuse for the fact that you can buy a springfield trp operator in all states except MA and CA. Why is there so much variance on laws that are supposed to be federal. Why is it the local governments can go right around the bill of rights and ban guns for "safety" reasons when not one documented case has been issued where it has been found "unsafe". IT is chaos at this time so see it for what it is and ask which side are you on. Gun control or human control, god knows 98 percent of humans cannot govern themselves that is why we have a government to begin with.

i am not against private sales at all in fact encourage it to happen more often as long as it is between responsible gun owners. DO not misunderstand me and hear words assumed not known. I want the sales to get to a more direct standpoind where people pay less all around. In fact i am working on gettin full details as to why all surplus ammo and regulare ammo coming from across sea's is coming through no issue except .223 and 7.62x39. Isnt it funny how the two rounds that are assault rilfes happen to still be sitting on the docks at customs while all the others flow right through. Things dont happen like this by accident. havent you ever wondered why 7.62x39 has skyrocketed in price, well now you know, so ask yourself is it all just coincidence. as far as your question da-tank learn to read it has already been answered many many times.

A guy across the street occasionally comes outside in his underwear to throw something out.
I don't see laws regarding wearing underwear in public view going away anytime soon.

Thsnx for some of that humor that was good. and by the way if you can end up on sex offenders list for your whole life because you urinate behind a building i wouldnt doubt wearing underwear can become illegal it might offend someone somewhere somehow and we all know how that goes.
AS far as glock 17 or 19 (full size 9mm or 40) 90 percent of glocks are standard pricing most sell these days around 469.95(retail) which leaves only 20 dollars profit. Le pricing is available throughout US for anyone that has a valid LE or military ID for glock it is about 50 dollars off usual price. If any dealers want to do these sales they must contact glock and ask them who their LE distributer for their particular area.
and to the last person more and more people are begeinning to see that we are very close to another revolution all the signs are there but usually only to those who walk with their eyes open and know history.

On the whole LE gun thing some dealers will buy LE guns from blgock and sell them retail. The way to check is the color of the sticker on the glock box. If i remember correctly there are three colors red white and blue and the colors stand for retail, LE, And reconditioned as far as which on for what i would be lying if i said i remember

If they are not breaking any laws, who cares, I buy my guns where I get them cheapest. Accessories (scopes, etc) all from internet companies, no tax and cheaper.

  • Gunlaw
then by all means go by the cheapest you can at walmart and when it blows up in your face send me a pic so i can laugh at it. The cheapest hammer i could find for my house was a rock tied to a stick but stupid me went and spent 5 dollars more for the solid metal one. When it comes time to get surgery go to the cheapest doctor you can find he usually hangs out in the back alley of a bar and the tools arent what you usually see in the hospital (broken piece of glass, KFC brand wet wipes)
good luck. i guess some cannot be argued with due to no reasoning whatsoever

Huh? What's does any of that have to do with boycotting Interstate Arms?

I think a smart gun shop will charge a fee & do transfers. Interstate Arms may sell me a used gun at a low price, but I still have to pay shipping and the transfer fee on it. All the dealer needs to do is log it in and out of his books.

An even smarter dealer may want to call Interstate Arms and see if they can't get a bulk discount or work out some deal.

Not too long ago I picked up a used Gen 2 glock 17 for $375 from my local dealer (Gat Guns for you IL folk). He had about 10 of them and they were obviously LE trade ins. Somehow this guy figured it out.

Now you are going over the top.
The original post of this thread was you railing on Interstate Arms because they are cutting dealers out of the loop. When people started calling you on it you changed your tactics. You state in your profile that you are a dealer, but when asked, you say you aren't. Now you are changing what you bitch about with every post.
This leads me to believe you are a:
