Can you get a good watch for under $100.00?
Its time for me to buy another watch. Does anybody have a suggestion for a rugged watch that keeps good time and is waterproof? Thanks, Steve.

I wear a black-square-faced Armitron. Keeps time just as well as a Rolex, something like $60.

My cell phone is my watch.
I quite buying watches as everytime I wear one I break it. And it gets expensive to buy 4 or 5 watches a month.0 -
Find a good used waterproof Timex, They "Take a licking and keep on ticking" 0 -
Get a Columbia or a Timex. I have both, both work great. I prefer the Columbia because it simply looks better.
FWIW, I do have dressy watches that cost several hundreds of dollars (Seikos mostly). They're fantastic watches, but I'd never take them mountain biking or swimming (even though they're waterproof). That's what lower-end watches are for.0 -

Go get a Casio Wave Ceptor Atomic Watch.
I sold a bunch of these on ebay and to friends a couple of years ago and never had a single complaint. I get asked all the time if I have any more because someone wants another for a family member. They are just like the atomic clocks and update automatically once a day by way of a radio signal and even adjust for daylight savings time automatically. I still have the first one I bought and it still works great. (I broke quite a few Timex's and wore out watchbands on them before finding the Casio-haven't replaced the band yet on my first Casio)
I thought by now these would be the only watches anyone would buy but most people are still not even aware that they exist.
Timex and a few other companies makes a few models as well. Spread the word...0 -

+1 - I have a casio with altimeter, barometer, thermometer, compass, solar powered, etc. Titanium case, water proof to 50-75 meters. It was $185 but I love it. It doesn't have the atomic cloch sync - I wish it did!0 -

I have had several Fossil watches over the years. They are stylish, a good value and they served me very well but the majority are, I believe, only water-resistant and not waterproof which is what steve45 is asking for.
Ergo, Timex and Casio definitely offer numerous watches that are waterproof to 50', 100' or more depending upon price.0 -
Just buy an Omega and be done with it. I've had mine on my wrist for six years and it still looks great. It has a few wear scratches, but that's normal. 0 -
Go Timex . This is the toughest watch I have ever found .I work in a plating shop and it holds up. Water proof ,acid proof ,shock proof ,and keeps good time. 0 -
...of course you can. I never wear a "good" watch out into the boonies.
Plenty of cheaper watches that you can bang around and not worry about tearing up.
My favorite watch is a Wilson, that is back lit at the press of a button. The watch goes out every time I bass fish or hunt...I think I paid $19 bucks for it about 8 years ago...change the batt once a year and it still works great, looks bad...but has saved my "good" watches...[;)]0 -
I have had a Rolex for several years now and I find that a good old Timex Quartz watch will keep better time. Go Figger! 0
