Death of my Friend...
Don Brewer passed away today.
He was five years younger than I, and was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer which metastasized into his spine and legs, only two weeks ago.
He was a good ol' boy hunter and fisherman - never failing to take the BIG elk, the BIG blacktail and the BIG salmon. His Son and Daughter mostly accompanied us until they became "too busy" teenagers. They are stricken, as is his beautiful wife, Dianna.
He worked as an over-the-road union trucker for many years. His family all attend the Church on the Hill Nazarine Church, as do we.
An enthusiastic and dedicated Outdoorsman, he taught me most of the woodcraft I ever learned.
He was a good shot with his only rifle and shotgun - a '94 Winchester .30-30 and a Model 97 12 gauge that his grandfather owned. His pistol was a .45 Colt Single Action Army that he inherited from his Dad.
He was a quiet Man, with a dry sense of humor, who was always around to offer help with anyone's project.
I miss him deeply.
Just wait, Don... we'll be walking the woods together again, before you know it.
Go with God.

Sorry for the loss of your friend. I and I guess many others with more grey hair have experienced that with more frequency. However, you know his pain is over. Now the thing is to try and help the family get through this difficult time.
May God bless his memory.0 -
