Thank you all for your kind thoughts.

A flock of geese just flew over headed south, singing their song.

Don and I were going after them tomorrow morning..

I don't know whether to go alone, or not.

    Man do I miss him.

Only a temporary separation from Don, well worth it when you get back together. Prayers sent up for you and all concerned.

    Don Brewer passed away today.

He was five years younger than I, and was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer which metastasized into his spine and legs, only two weeks ago.

He was a good ol' boy hunter and fisherman - never failing to take the BIG elk, the BIG blacktail and the BIG salmon. His Son and Daughter mostly accompanied us until they became "too busy" teenagers. They are stricken, as is his beautiful wife, Dianna.

He worked as an over-the-road union trucker for many years. His family all attend the Church on the Hill Nazarine Church, as do we.

An enthusiastic and dedicated Outdoorsman, he taught me most of the woodcraft I ever learned.

He was a good shot with his only rifle and shotgun - a '94 Winchester .30-30 and a Model 97 12 gauge that his grandfather owned. His pistol was a .45 Colt Single Action Army that he inherited from his Dad.

He was a quiet Man, with a dry sense of humor, who was always around to offer help with anyone's project.

    I miss him deeply.

Just wait, Don... we'll be walking the woods together again, before you know it.

    Go with God.

    Doug

Sorry for your loss Doug. I believe his wife worked at a local radio station, here in the Ft.Peirce area of Florida...
Prayers for his family and friends are sent..

Thank you, Earl - it's appreciated.

Jeff - they have been here for at least 30 years, so it must be someone else.

    Coincidences are scary.

    Old Friends

    Sorry bud!

    there's hearts filled with laughter
    and eyes moved to tears
    with memories so vivid
    transcending the years
    the words of compassion
    and actions so kind
    the sun smiles down, when
    old friends come to mind

    I've counted my blessings
    and shuffled my dreams
    and sang to the music
    of deep forest streams
    searching for places
    the light always shined
like deep in my soul, when
    old friends come to mind

    I count you among
all the guides on the path
who loved me and taught me
    to dream and to laugh
    when I reach my heaven
    I know that I'll find
    this heaven was built
by old friends, I call mine
