CCW's what do you say when.....
somone asks you why you chose to carry a firearm for protection?
I come from a family that has always had guns around in the house, cars, cabin, just about anywhere and everywhere. so growning up i never asked anyone this question. I Moved to CO. nearly 2yrs ago. and I have noticed, specially here in this area it seems to be the total opposite. I find myself having to answer this question. And from what i gather Most think it's ok to own a rifle/shotgun for hunting, and sport, but not a pistola for Self defence?
I find myself not knowning what to say. I truely had never really thought about it. "I have just always done it. thats the way I was raised, round guns." [B)]
Doesn't get the point across very well. so i find myself being a bad example and want to correct this, and need some help.
What do you say???

do i need to be clearer besides a cop may not be able to protect me when i need one.0 -
i had some help from someone here recently. I carry a gun now because a whole cop is just too damned heavy.. 0 -

That is the only reason that I carry a gun, because a situation might come up where I would want to shoot somebody. It would be a shame to be where someone needed shooting and not be able to oblige.

I don't have a carry permit but am planning to get one...just as soon as I establish my residence (wherever that may be) in the next year or so.
I think it best to keep the fact that you carry discreet. But when you're asked, here are some responses that come to mind:

Ask them if they think it would have been wise for those on the western frontier to carry a pistol during the days of the "old west" before "the west was won". They'll probably say yes. Then tell them that chances they will die from murder or attack by wild animal are more likely today than back then in the state of Arizona.0
