100's of Guns & Million+ rounds found Angola, IN
I was not going to say anything about this in hopes that it would not get out, but it did so here it is.
This guy never bothered anyone till yesterday and now his stuff is all over the news. There is video of the guns laid out on the tables getting inventoried. The reporter is very cute and has a nice rear, to bad you guys didn't get to see her in person. [;)] [^] [8D]
I feel kind of bad for the guy.

Imagine going to work with no worries in sight, only to have your life threatened just minutes after you arrive.
It happened just yesterday in Angola.
For the crew at Davey Tree Experts, it's a Friday definitely worth celebrating, for a few frightening moments Thursday morning, they didn't think they would live to see the weekend.
"I looked up and was staring right down the barrel of his gun,"says William McCollum.
"You've got 1200 volts of electricity flowing up over your head and got a guy below with a shotgun," says Jimmy Harbin.
Jimmy Harbin was there when the 71-year-old gunman approached--angry the crew was cutting down the tree in front of his home. Technically though, the trees were on a public right of way, the trimmers were contracted by NIPSCO to take care of them, but were never prepared for this kind of fight.
"I thought I was dead, the first thought that went through my head was I would never see my kids again, I will never see my fiance again, I didn't think I was coming home," says McCollum.
Angola Police showed up within five minutes , arrested felix weldon, who was later deemed too ill to be kept in jail. he was transported to a fort wayne hospital. police say his house was a mess and he lived like a hermit.
"You didn't really see him anywhere, once in a while you'd see him out in the yard or going somewhere in his car, other than that he was always in his house," says Renee Richardson, a neighbor of Weldon's.
Once Angola police entered the man's house, search warrant in hand, this is what they found: almost a hundred handguns, 200 long guns, a million rounds of ammunition and a Nazi flag.
Police say although it's the biggest stash they've ever seen, they don't believe Weldon broke any laws. As for the Davey crew they will soon be gone, but say worry for this neighbors lives on.
"You're living 50 yards from a guy that's got more ammunition in his house than half of Baghdad," says McCollum.
It's up to the prosecutor now to decide Weldon's fate.

(ANGOLA) - A man was arrested yesterday by Angola Police after he allegedly pointed a double barreled shotgun at some tree trimmers and police officers outside of a home he was living in at the southwest corner of Randolph and Williams Street. Angola Police Detective Tim Crooks says the incident, which took place shortly before 9:00, began after the workers were trying to remove some trees from a right of way. No shots were fired before the man, identified as 71 year old Felix Weldon, was taken into custody. Police had concerns about Weldon's health after his arrest. At last report, he was in a Fort Wayne hospital. No charges have been formally filed as of this morning but police report a large quantity of weapons were found inside of the home. Once police are finished with their investigation, the matter will be turned over to the City of Angola's Building Department where officials were expected to declare the property unsafe for occupancy due to electrical and sanitary issues and the unsafe storage of firearms. Federal authorities along with Indiana State Police, the Steuben County Sheriffs Department and the Angola Fire Department all took part in the investigation. Police were on the scene until about 8:30 last night.

Where does the law put a limit on the number of rounds one can have? Let see, he's 71 with a million rounds. Sounds like plenty to last the rest of his life and then some.
Bless Mr. Weldon. To bad he lost his cool and went outside with his shotgun. They will likely confiscate it and his ammo, but they cannot auction it off until he is convicted of something.
A couple years ago I got some good ammo deals at an auction house that acquired police confiscated guns and ammo. After the case was over with, the police agency put the stuff up for auction. The items I got still had the evidence tags attached.0 -

I went by there Thursday. Should have seen all the flashing light.
The guy is mental though. He called NIPSCO to have the trees trimmed as they were hanging on his line, then pulled a gun when the arrived. He didn't know WHY they were there.
AS a side note, they DID butcher his tree.0 -

It's hard to say how much he had, I counted 25,000 rounds of 308 that are in cases. Lots of plastic shopping bags with 2-6 boxs each. Some had bricks of .22LR, some had 9mm. I was very PO'ed when I heard the reporter say "1 million rounds" and asked the detective if the reporter had counted each round to know and he said that was the number they had told her. I was less than impressed with them telling her that.0 -

This is the first I've heard that He called about the trees. They have been marked for sometime now with the Red paint that the power company uses to tell the tree trimmers what trees to cut.
They did more than butcher 1 tree, they are removing them all.
The tree trimmers don't care much about making them look nice when the just trim. All they care about is getting it away from the wires.0 -

You would have to know the Angola and Steuben County Po-po's.
When I moved down here in 93 there was a murder in Fremont. Someone dropped a body off in someones lawn. Cops couldn't solve the crime.
Paul Harvey commented that if you wanted to get away with murder, do it in Steuben county.

A few years ago my neighbor gave me a rusty SA dagger and a nice 98K bayonet, his dad brought them back from WW2.

In the video they say they arent sure if he broke any laws. I just hope when he does get EVERYTHING back will it ALL be there. Im pretty certain he has family somewhere that can look after him and his property. My uncle got his stuff back he was missing alot of magazines and clips to his weapons. 0 -

He NEVER pointed the shotgun at any Police Officer. The tree guys are the ones that claim he pointed it at them.0
