my family considered it a tradition also i have both my grandfathers and fathers guns, but my younger generation could care less. it's a shame because i do own a few nice and taken care of firearms that could be considered historic collectables

I've taken blueing off Rugers and even K-Kote off a SIG 220, no problem.

    Chirizo, I take it. Snork!!

I am taking them with me. What if you get to the other side and it is a shooter's paradise except it is a "bring your own gun" club? Being buried in a lead lined and sealed grand piano case with all my old Colts, Winchesters, Ballards etc etc and plenty of ammo.Having a helicopter drop my piano case casket out in the middle of Drowning Creek Swamp where no-one except a backwoods, snake eating, gator wrestling, bear sword fighting redneck like me would have a chance of surviving the round trip. The kids can have the more modern stuff that I bought as an investment anyway if I haven't sold them for booze and dope when I'm 90, blind and perhaps erectile dysfunctional.

Now that my only child, a Daughter, has turned 21, (and because of this thread) I am gonna write up another inventory, and specifically name every gun I own, along with when/from whom it was acquired, a little historical write-up on each, along with Model, Serial number, and a few Hi-res Pictures of each, and say that each one belongs to her.
A full print-out in the safe with the guns, along with a Thumb drive taped to the top of the inside of the safe containing the same info, and a copy to her now, for her records. I am just "Keeping them for her", as she is in the USAF, and can't take them all over the world with her, and besides, she has no safe.

    Thanks for the thread.

Those that carry me will each get to pick one.
The rest will go to daughter.

I've introduced the sport of hunting (newly learned myself) and the joy/challenge of target shooting to my brother. He's caught the addiction to both. My wife will recieve all my guns, if we both die (Plane/car crash, etc), he will recieve them.

Chances are that, if I were to pass, she'd keep my CZ 40P and 12ga, and give the rest to my brother.

heck they don't care weather they're worth $5000.00 or $100.00 just so anything that belonged to me is gotten rid off. guess you can tell i am well loved around here or anywhere for that matter.

I have not thought about that. I will probably have to leave instructions to my wife on how to get the most out of them.

Mine will go to my wife (if I precede her) then my sons if they're old enough. (they're only 9 months and 2.5 years, respectively.)
My dad called me about his guns the other day. I said I'd drive right over and pick them all up (he's 5 hours from here), but he's not ready to get rid of them [V] being only 53 years old himself, and still an avid hunter/shooter. If he dies before we divide the goods, the guns are the only thing that will be fought over between my brother and I.
That sweet 627-0 and the Colt 1911 series 80 are two that may end up in a fight...

My will passes a few specific pieces. Otherwise, the kids and grandkids get whatever they want - rest to be sold by kids and money split.

My Dad passed away in December.. And since I am the only child I got them all.. Most of them I have kept, but some I have sold or traded for new toys. Between his guns and mine (most of which he gave me anyway) I have a pretty good collection to pass on to my 2YO one day.

Me and Juju will still dig ya up.[:D]
My boys already divided mine up, but I still got the keys to the safe. They probably took out a large life insurance policy on me too.

I have two or three early acquisitions and three or four recent ones that I are specifically willed to certain people. The rest will go back hence they came, the open market.

    Clouder..
