When you pass, what happens to the guns?
My plan is to give one rifle and one hangun to my sons and grandson and sell the rest to boost the estate for the wife.

Only if you go first. Unless death strikes suddenly, there is often enough time to make appropriate decisions regarding firearms. Please recall that plans have been implemented in some places to make inheritance of firearms ILLEGAL, thereby eventually removing them from the hands of the public.

I have no children, so I have a .22 that I got for my 12th birthday that will be a 12th birthday present for one of my nieces.
I am working on one of my nephews and he may get one of my shotguns for his 16th.

Oldest two daughters don't care about them, oldest son maybe one or two long guns, youngest son (The "M44 Kid") gets 99.9% of the rest of the collection. He's the one that has the interest, knowledge, history, and respect for what they are. 0 -

My youngest son will get mine unless the Dems grab them in a couple of years. I looked into NFA items a couple of years ago and it looks like he can inherit them without having to pay the $200 again. Comments please guys? 0 -

The guns my dad left me I have said go to my brothers son since he will retain our last name unless I have a oopsy and get me a boy. My Sig P220 I have instructed my wife to make a urn out of for my ashs. The rest can go to my kids or brother or whoever in the family fights the hardest for them. [;)] 0 -

Both sons hunt and shoot. In the safe there are directions for my family if I pass. There are certain firearms that are to be passed on to my sons and brother. The rest are to be sold if necessary to support my family. If not it will be up to my wife to give them out as she sees fit.
There are also directions on how to dispose of the firearms, including the value of each firearm as well as the name and number of a trusted friend that will help her.0 -
what i don't sell before i die will probally be basically given to a pawn shop somewere by my wife and kids. 0 -

heck they don't care weather they're worth $5000.00 or $100.00 just so anything that belonged to me is gotten rid off. guess you can tell i am well loved around here or anywhere for that matter. 0 -
I was just curious in asking the question, because in our family we consider it a tradition to pass firearms from one generation to the next. Last week, my niece was given a rifle by my brother that was my first rifle which was given to him. All of us have a lot of firearms, and the ones that are of sentimental value or are especially liked will always be in the family. The others, while appreciated, are no more than an investment and will be better of sold to someone else to enjoy. The money received will be better put to use in helping my wife or other family members with their finances. Very interesting to see the many different opinions.[:)] 0 -
