Any of you ever jump....................
out of a perfectly good airplane? I've been sky diving since the mid 1970's and today will be my first jump since last Summer. Finished my refresher course yesterday and had breakfast with our pilot this morning to discuss today's jump. We're going up in a freshly renovated Pilatus turbo Porter PC6. Should be a blast! [^]

When I was in the Army the DI ask me why I was watching the airborne run by and I said I think I'll try that. He said son there only two things that come from the sky, Bird chit and fools which one are you. [:D][:D][:0][^][8] 0 -
never been in a plane let alone jump out of one 0 -

I went para-sailing (where you are towed behind a boat) once when my first wife [:(!] and I were in Acapulco. You start out on the beach on then run like hell chasing after the boat and then let it haul you up into the air. The ride was fun but while I was sailing along up there I saw the guys on the boat were hitting on my wife (who was exceptionally good looking), not paying any attention to me or to my safety and eventually they slowed the boat to the point where I dropped into the drink. I had a life vest on but they seemed to be in no huge hurry to pick me up. 0 -
1996. this one is a special pic. its my last jump. C-17 OPS. guest of ST-2. not everyone came home alive from this one. first bad day in 22 years.[:(]
it was suppose to be my farewell jump....it was. i never jumped again. retired shortly thereafter.

bobski,
did you ever work on that project where a c-130 snags the ballon you are attached to?0 -
that thing killed more people....
it got scraped and for good reason.
piece of trash.
remember james bond?
i knew the guys that did that film shot.0 -
Name that plane? Looks like an S-2 Tracker. 0 -
Probably one of the coolest things I have ever done. Can't even begin to describe the feeling but it's really high on the list of great ones.
If your worreid about jumping out of a perfectly good airplane just pick one with lots of duct tape holding it together and has more airflow inside than out. Works every time.[}:)]0 -

Cool Post.
That's about all I gotta say about that!0 -
I've had a few jumps.....
Actually 52 military jumps.
two of them were in Iraq.
I have Spanish Armed Forces Parachute Wings and German Parachute wings awarded to me also.
Definately an AWESOME time in my military career.
I've jumped out of C130s, C141s, C5s, UH-1Hs, UH-60s, CH-47s, and CH-53s. Never did get to do the C17 though..... Heard that was the Cadillac of airborne ops.
Finished 2nd out of a class of 80 in my jumpmaster course. Only 14 people actually passed the class and I think 10 of those 14 were going through the class for the 2nd time[:p][:p]
Man I miss those days.....0 -
Never had the urge or the need. I had a chute on once on a C124 that aborted a T.O. and barely made the second one. That's the closest. 0 -
s2, close. think 'mail.'[;)] 0 -
S2 Tracker. Take the guts out of the fuselage, and you have a COD. Best, Joe 0 -
Blue Skys Hobbyguy!Im going to my local DZ this week end.Maybe Ill have some pics for ya Next week. 0 -
It would cost someone about 9 million dollars to pay me to jump willingly out of a perfectly good airplane. I'm Light Infantry. We keep our feet on the ground. 0 -
not s-2. s2 doesnt have a single vert stab. try again!
zulu....did you forget your army history? who wears baggie pants? GERANAMO! FOLLOW ME. they ARE infantry....they just get there in a unique way.[;)][:D]
stabo is crap. ever have a cable break or get jammed with a person on it?
how do you land?[:0]0 -
I was asked a few times to go try it with my cousin who was an Army Ranger. He and his wife both enjoyed skydiving. Not my cup of tea. 0 -
Name that plane - It appears to be an old C-1 (Trader?) COD. Prior to the C-2 Greyhound they brought the mail out to the carriers. 0 -
1976 US Army Five Jump Chump. I caught a lot of hell for being an MP at the time I went through A/B, but at least I wasn't a "LEG" when I came out...[8D]

The Tracker and the Trader used the same airframe. Here's a Tracker with single vertical stab.0 -
