  last time i checked, the arm' is suppose to deter crime and or someone from attacking the officer. in other words, the gun protects the authority of the state/locality. its a symbol of power and absolute law.
  depending on the task of an officer, the arm' is suppose to assist the officer in performing his task properly. to say an officer isnt suppose to be heavily armed in public leads me to think its ok to break law in crowds. i like the mp5 idea. its a great equalizer. i feel an mp5 armed officer is mature enough to know the risks of stray fire, and im sure he's trained to keep it at a minimum. besides, how do you know they arent rubber bullets? you dont. dont let a pic mislead you. you dont know the circumstances. the officer does.[;)][^]
