The ONLY person who needs an MP5 is one who has used up his/her MP1, 2, 3, & 4. Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should they be allowed to use an MP6 or beyond. 0 -
I self-poofed, having spouted off before considering all factors. Some other members pointed out at least one legitimate reason for the police to be so armed.

The late Jeff Cooper once opined that an excellent long arm for police would be a 16" Model 94 in 30-30. Light, flat, compact, fairly high rate of controlled fire, and much more powerful than any pistol caliber from a subgun. I have a 16" 94 in 44 Magnum and my 240 JHP loads clock 1980 FPS and I suspect that out to 100 yards this would be good for settling anyone's hash. I was once timed firing 5 shots (all in the K zone at 25 yards) in 3.2 seconds and I am not an expert or even well-practiced.
I will not comment on certain opinions posted earlier on this thread as that member and his twisted views are not worthy of discussion. But I would agree that a machinegun in a crowded area sounds like a recipe for disaster. But then, I have always felt the same way about security guards (nothing against them) carrying guns in crowded shopping malls at Christmas time. No amount of loss from theft is worth turning bullets loose into a crowd of shopper trying to stop thieves.0 -

Cops use them on campus, the reason being is that 9mm wont go through walls like a slug. Its more tatical weapon for close quarters 0 -
