I was in traffic today, and I saw a car with a Duke bumper sticker on it. Got me to thinking that I don't feel bad for these Duke Lacrosse players. Here's a list why:

    1. They engaged in illegal or damn near illegal activity (I can't see how you can pay someone to strip, and she probably was offering services on the side);
    2. You got a bunch of rich white kids who decided it woudl be fun to get a black stripper/hooker;
    3. They had enough money and clout to beat the rap and get the prosecutor's license lifted;
    4. They are going to land on their feet, if they haven't already;
    5. You sleep with dogs, you get fleas.

    There. Off my chest...
It is legal to pay people to strip. It is not legal to pay people to have sex. At least not outside of Nevada.

So you have a bunch of kids that want to see a stripper. Doesn't matter if they're black or white, that's what college kids do.

Are you telling us that if you were wrongfully accused of rape, and you had a frothing-at-the-mouth prosecutor wanting to put you away for life, despite knowing full well that no rape occurred, all for a political agenda, that you wouldn't fight hard, too?

These boys will be forever known as being associated with a rape. If you think that means they're landing on their feet, you're nuts.

    1. ok, whatever
    2. maybe they didnt specify race (only allow white strippers for whites?)
    3. they rap was bs. so they are more guilty if they have $?
    4. they were slandered and had to deal with this crap for over a year
    5. ok

They were stupid, but most of us were at that age. Whatever it was it was not worth this debacle!
Just be nice to your strippers

...I don't think it is a matter of "feeling sorry" for the players; it's the fact that a rogue prosecutor went after them with no real evidence. The guys are in college, having a stripper is not exactly an illegal activity, what, we are going to be like the musloons and have "moral" police/DA's now??

...A DA is NOT allowed to wage a politicaly (apparantly) motivated potential life destroying attacks on innocient people; looks like the DA is the criminal here, kick his sorry butt to the curb.

...IF the players had NOT had the money to wage a very good defense, they would have had their lives ruined by an azz wipe...I hope at the least, he looses his accredation or goes to jail...or both...[;)]

Spoken like a true liberal lawyer, lets see, poor black kids are automatically innocent, and rich white kids are automatically guilty right?

I am in that courthouse just about every other day. I know the attorneys on the case. This was a huge deal all around, and frankly, it doesn't say much for the prosecution.

The kid was 11. Yes, he probably knew it was wrong, but he was f---ing 11 at the time!

Now, the prosecutor gets on teh news & says "He'll be back." If that's her attitude, then why not get rid of the whole juvenile justice system? If our own prosecutor doesn't have faith in it, then what business does he have putting people into it?

Teh prosecutor wanted to put this kid away for LIFE.

Now, the big news seems to be the way he was dressed, and that he didn't show "remorse". The kid can't win. What do you expect? He's getting out of the system after 10 years. I once made the mistake of telling a client to dress like he's going to church. He showed up to court wearing a lime green suit, tie, shoes and hat, with a black shirt. What are you going to do? I've had other clients show up looking like they pulled their clothing out of a barn.

He's said he's sorry a million times. Noone will ever accept it or believe it. It's retarded to even comment on it.

So, the state is paying for school and housing. Big deal. It pays for all kinds of loosers. He did his time. It's a tragedy all around...

so they deserved to go to jail for life because they hired a couple strippers?

    Wow....

They were falsly accussed by a nappy headed fatlady.
And persicuted by a racist prosicutor.

Thier legal activities make no difference.

The fatlady and prosicutor should be tried for three counts of rape.

They had enough money and clout to beat the rap and get the prosecutor's license lifted;Interesting choice of words. You imply they buffaloed their way through the legal system and retaliated against this prosecutor through money and clout. Instead, these resources just assured them of justice.

Thanks to the legal system our attorneys have helped create, the sad fact is that justice costs money. This guy simply picked the wrong people to try and frame...this time. There's no telling how many innocent people without such resources who have been successfully prosecuted for the benefit of this shyster.

They were victims of an out of control official and I'm thankful for anyone who was able to drag this guy's activities out for scrutiny in the harsh light of day. Their money and clout helped us all in this instance.

Any straight-up member of our legal system should feel bad for someone who becomes a victim of such malicious prosecution, no matter what we think of them personally. Count me as one who does.

    1. An argument could be made that they were attempting to teach them how to wear clothes.

    2. And, an argument could be made that learning about sex off campus is okay.

    3. It's good to see LA Justice and the likes of Al, Jesse, and Malik Zulu Shabazz's New Black Panthers have their *** handed to them on national TV, by the likes of Fox News, no less. [:D][:D][:D] Too funny!

    4. I can hear that good old boy who grew up in Rusk, Texas singing from his grave on behalf of those Duke boys right now, "Hit the decks a runnin' boys and turn those guns around".

    5. Nifong definitely has a flea problem, and he probably has his ears full of blood sucking ticks 24/7.

Thank you for bringing more sunshine into an otherwise cloudy day!

We are ALL under the same justice system. We all are subjected to the political leanings of our local DAs. I deal with them all the time. They all have their agendas.

When did I say that they should go to jail? I said I don't feel bad for them. I said they were flirting with disaster, and they're damn lucky that their folks had the money to bail them out.

When did I say that "poor black kids are automatically innocent?" My post about Nathan whatever his name was acknowledged that he was guilty and served his time. The argument there was that this kid can't win, you got people out there that can't wait for him to F up, including the prosecuting attorneys (and noone was calling for their ouster)

BTW, that was in Oakland County, where 99% of the time there is NO plea deal, where everything is a "policy case".

Where race came in is that I think you got a bunch of bratty white kids who thought it would be a hoot to hire some black strippers and laugh at the "nappy headed ho's." Just an opinion of mine. Who knows. Maybe they were turned on by black women. I'd be curious to know how many players were black, how many had black girlfriends. I'll bet 0.

And I'm not saying that you shouldn't fight hard if you are wrongfully accused of a Crime. I'm saying that I don't feel bad for them.

WHAT DO YOU EXPECT WHEN YOU HANG OUT WITH STRIPPERS?

I think you are the one inventing this crap that they hired her b/c they are racists.
Almost all dudes have seen a stripper (some of them even black!), so no that does nor make them quilty of other crimes.
You seem to have it out for kids you assume are rich, why?
I still like your quote "damn near illegal"[:D]
I am glad you are not in this criminal justice system
"Son, you know that car is damn near illegal?! I might have to run you in for rape or assault or something, if you have ever seen a stripper, then it's life for you buddy. 2 terms if shes black"

You should be ashamed to be in the same association as nifong.[xx(]
Rather than denounce another member of the "bar", you try to twist blame it on to the real victims.
No wonder people talk trash about lawyers so much.[xx(]

No, I've never had a stripper. Never had to pay for it [;)]

When did I stand up for Nifong? Seems to Me I said that ALL prosecutors have their own agenda. Not saying it's right, just saying its a fact.

And if I was in their shoes, I would not like it one bit.

And if I was in their shoes, the first thing I would think is "THIS IS WHAT I GET FOR HANGING OUT WITH STRIPPERS!" Now, I wouldn't sit back and take it, but I would have to acknowledge that WHEN YOU SLEEP WITH DOGS, YOU GET FLEAS.

BTW, I don't have it out for rich kids. I was a rich kid myself. I was also told by my father and other relatives that "WHEN YOU SLEEP WITH DOGS, YOU GET FLEAS". I can't remember what mafioso said this, but he was asked why his son wasn't in the family buisiness. He repled "only an dude lets his kid hang out with other dudes".

I like the "damn near illegal" language myself. An attorney in my building sucessfully defended a guy who would pay teen boys to tie him up naked and then have them beat him. Charged him with some heavy duty crime, but it was only "damn near illegal", and he only did a few months on some minor charge. Attorney got the guy's Dodge Viper in payment...

    # 1 - It is NOT illegal to pay someone to strip. Ever heard of a strip club ?

    # 2 - How do you know they are "rich" ? Have you seen their tax returns ? Also, they werent all white. There was one black, 4 asians, 2 hispanics and apaprently a person of Lebonese decent. Remember, there were over 40 people at the house that night. In addition, the players did NOT ask for a black stripper/hooker.

    # 3 - Money had nothing to do with this case. The county's worst public defender could have won this case if it had gone to trial. Clout ? What clout did they have ? Their clout certainly didnt prevent them from being targeted by an over zealous, criminal prosecutor.

    # 4 - Of course they are going to land on their feet. They are law abiding, smart, honest people. (something lawyers arent)

    # 5 - Is that why your wife has fleas ?

i guess you feel sorry for O.J. the victim

i have known many strippers, i used to run one of stl.'s top strip clubs with 90+ girls, out of that group i could name about 5 that where bad, the rest where in collage, or single moms trying to make a living, you have not a clue on how hard their jobs are, and how much it actually entails

LOL, they didn't hang out with strippers, they hired two of them to dance at a party. BFD.

As for their being black, hell, there's some mighty fine damned looking black women in this world that I'd not mind seeing naked (hell, I'll be honest, I wanna see them naked).
    0
  • Jgreen
Spaniel, I'm not saying it is a BFD that they hired strippers. I'm saying I'm not suprised that it ended up badly.

Tsavo, what does "repression" have to do with this? You mean to say you couldn't see this one coming? You couldn't see how maybe, just maybe, this wasn't going to end up like these guys thought it would?

1911fan, WTH are you talking about? OJ has nothing to do with this. As a matter of fact, I don't feel bad for OJ at all. He bought the best justice money could buy.

I have represented many strippers. Maybe things are different in St. Louis, but by and large, I've never seen one that wasn't damaged goods.

OJ MAYO - Strip clubs are licensed, zoned, regulated, and policed. Second, I know how much money it takes to fight these things. There was a WHOLE LOT O MONEY spent on this one. Duke ain't cheap either. Third, being "good, law abiding citizens" does not mean you're gonna land on your feet. You know that. Finally, money had EVERYTHING to do with the case. Have you ever hired an attorney? Do you know what it takes to get the attorney grievance commision to move on a complaint? Especially when it comes to simply charging someone with a crime? And before you jump all over that last statement, remember that you do get your day in court, and typically, when the people will have an opportunity to contest a charge, the system generally favors a determination in Court.

Duke isnt cheap...yes, but all of these athletes were on scholarship.

Strip clubs are licensed....yes, but so are escort and entertainment companies that cater to parties.

It sometimes take alot of money to fight cases......yes, but in this case many of the attorneys worked for either free or reduced rates due to the high profile nature of the case. This is extremely common.

Im willing to bet not all of them were on full rides I bet most of them had 1/4 or 1/2 rides

green , bad ideas have nothing to do with illegality. they maybe be correaled but you can be a law abiding amoral freak and vice versa.

They are dumb kids, I am pretty sure all of us did dumb things in college. BUT THEY DID NOT BREAK THE LAW
If they had treated the stripper well we could all have avoided this- that is the stupid part about it. Lotsa lessons to be learned here, but this is riduclous
. the stripper and Nifong are the criminals here
