    The part of the question I keyed in on was popular.
    Popular meaning the highest amount sold.
    243, 30-30, 270, 30-06, 308, 7mm magnum, 300 Win Mag
    Are the most popular rifle cartridges in the USA.
    30-30 and 270 are the most popular out of that group that have not been used by a Military.

    Thats how I saw it anyway.

    You might want to check your facts, IIRC there are a few Ordenance "bomb" stamped M-94 Winchesters out there, and IIRC (again) they were chambered for the 30WCF (30-30 Win) cartridge. Usage was as military prison guard rifles?

    let me check on the 30-30 issue tomorrow. Years ago, the Winchester Model 94 carried a NSN (National Stock Number) and was therefor in the military inventory. So it is possible that some members of the military used that round.
