Probably the Weirdest Question Ever..........
I am going to be picking up in the next week or so, an entire human skeleton, plus another skull.
Before you guys start calling the FBI,......these came from my step dad that was a physician, and he actually got them from his father that was on staff at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore.
They have been stored at my mom's place since my step dad passed away.
They were purchased in the late thirties from what I have been able to find out.
What do you do with stuff like this?
I have heard they are quite expensive, but I don't know if "human bones" are legal to sell from an individual.
I get the thrill of bringing them here, and assembling them to see what shape they are in!
Thought maybe Dr. D, or any other med type folks might have an idea as to what I should do with these things.
I am also picking up a German made Leitz-Wetzlar microscope ,......info on that would be appreciated too.

Its all luck that you get to have this stuff.
Legally your fine having them since they are so old and came from a teaching school. Personally, if you don't want them hanging around the living room watching tv with you, I would contact the nearest community college and see if they have a need for the skeleton in the biology lab. They make great specimens for teaching. There might be a little paper work to fill out, but I'm sure they would like them. As for the microscope; I have no idea. sell if on ebay.0 -

Everything weird sells on ebay except guns and hi-cap mags and now gun parts. Be sure and disclose all facts regarding legality of them BONES. Be sure and sell that microscope too. I just got off ebay looking at certain microscopes.
HECK - Better yet sell them here on Gunbroker. That should get them some extra press. I will bid for sure on the bones and microscope.0 -

Microscope will be outdated, but may well be of interest to a collector (of medical equipment usually) or a doctor to decorate his office.

That is another that did not show up in my very brief search.
The pricing is unbelievable in the right shape, so I will have to wait and see what is in the cartons.
Neither one of us needs the money, so I will most likely call the University of Florida, and see about donating all of it.
At the least, my mother could get a tax write-off for it,.......maybe.

Sorry Marc, but I wouldn't know what to do with one of those.
Most schools now use germ free unbreakable plastic models for their anatomy courses. It is unlikely a community college would accept a human anything as a donation.
Did you consider Christian burial? Just a thought.

Just a thought, but with forensics being such a hot career choice, due to the popularity of the numerous TV dramas, there might be a college in your area that specialized in forensics who might be interested in it. 0
