The only problem that I have with that is the statement that the God of the Koran is not the same God as the one that this nation was founded under. In fact, they are the same.

Abraham had two sons. His first, illegitimate, son, Ishmael and his second, legitimate son, Issac.

The Jews (and the inheritance that they were promised) decended from Issac.

Ishmael left the Jews and had twelve sons of his own. From Ishmael's line came Mohammed and modern day Arabs.

They still share the same God!

how can we vote for a man that dosen't say the pledge.
these words take a few seconds to say,and yet they mean so much, do you stand up at the ballpark for the Star spangled banner. if you go to a council meeting dose it not start off with the pledge, even those of us that have a problem with politics or actually polititions, do we not support this country, Isn't the pledge a show of our support. who believes we shouldn't say the pledge of allegiance.

i think the pledge is important. but this country's falling apart anyways... obama not saying the pledge is only a small part of the problem. the above info, scared the heck out of me. what if he is just trying to trick the country! i think he should be taken out of the race. we shouldn't chance it! lol

They are not the same God. Christianity's Godhead is made up of 3 persons...The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. Three persons, one God. IMO, Muslims worship a false god...and one that is most certainly not the same God of Christianity.

So then, IMO you are not a monotheist. IMO, It would seem that you are the one that worships false Gods.

By the way Ishmael's mother was married to Abraham (not that she had any choise since she was given to him by Sarah) so he was a legitimate offspring.

once a muslim, always a muslim!
there is no way known that obama would still be breathing if he really did turn his back on islam and renounce allah as the one true god!
those are the facts of life!...there are mullas here(origianally from the middle east and INDONESIA) in my country that openly say that anyone who renounces allah and islam is an enemy of the one true god and must die!opama was under the influence of radical muslim beliefs, therefore it is not possible that he could have or would have turned his back on what he would have been brain washed into believing!
he is in my opinion a dangerous fifth columnist!, and therefore dangerous not only for america, but dangerous for the world!if you want to see what the anti-christ looks like, then look at the smooth talking obama!
he tells the democratic americans what they want to hear, and they cheer him!indonesia is full of radical muslims, there are a lot of muslim terroist training camps in indonesia and their government does nothing about it!

HandgunHTR (not necessarily directed AT but in response to)

Your initial facts are true, that's where the similarities end. In the Islamic nation that was changed by Mohammed's new "gospel", they departed from the TRUE God and made up their own version. We all want to believe we have "connected" with God but the single biggest mistake man makes in this reconciliation is by using "man's" rules to reach God. The simple and easy truth is don't confuse God with all the man made gods, from every corner of the world and don't let anyone's "religion" get in your way. If you have an earnest heart for seeking to know the one true living God and not just find a way to get along and meet the minimums to get in the back door of heaven, but really, truly seek to know and worship the only real God, the Bible promises you will find Him, IF you seek Him with your whole heart. Get a Bible, start reading and just ask God to reveal Himself to you and He will, in His wonderful creation and through His wonderful creatures, including man.

All of man is connected in one way, regardless of skin color or language or cultural origin........we all came from Adam and all have a sin nature that requires a pardon for our sin...... we are not sinners because we sin, we sin because we are sinners. That sounds very 1st graderish I know but there is a really huge distinction between the two and if you get the jist of that TRUTH, everything else will start to make more sense.

thanks for listening..... No, I'm not a preacher or certainly not qualified to answer and defend all questions about GOD, just know the Truth and it has set me free from sin and death and I have been given eternal life, based on HIS TERMS and HIS ALONE.........no religion, no priest, no statue, no practices or mantra. John 14:6

god promised abraham favor with the first born in his marriage, but abraham thinking sarah was too old took hagar his servant to bear his child, this child was ishmael a decendant of arabs through hagar.
now sarah was who god wanted to bear the child and she became with child, and issac was born, and the promise of the blessings went to him.

this is why the arabs and islamic nations of today {decendants of ishmael} fight with the jewish tribes {issac} still today. if you research further you will find that one of the countrys besides israel that is a decendantof issac is the u.s.a.[;)]

This is what I believe based on my research:
You left out about 5,000 years of history. There is no direct line of religious tradition from Ishmael to Mohammad. Racial yes, but religious no. The Arabs were splintered, each tribe having its own religion. Mohammad succeeded in overcoming this division and uniting the various Arab tribes under Islam about 1600 years ago. Allah was of course, the moon god of Mohammed's village. To say they are one in the same, is like saying I and Ted Kennedy are one in the same because we are both The American. This "same god" thought is an untruth that some people have been told. Not arguing here, just sharing what my research bears out.

Thanks for the replies guys (sav99, ECC, gruntled, and lindalecowboy).

ECC, the Arab nation started out worshipping the same God that you and I do. So did the Jews. God has always been a triune God. We (Christians) are the only ones who acknowledge that fact (or opinion if it suits you.) Just because they don't look at it the same way that we do doesn't mean it isn't the same deity.

gruntled, Ishmael's mother was not Abraham's wife. She was Sarah's maid.

C&P from a Bible verse site:
1 Now Sarai, Abram's wife, had borne him no children. But she had an Egyptian maidservant named Hagar; 2 so she said to Abram, "The LORD has kept me from having children. Go, sleep with my maidservant; perhaps I can build a family through her."
Abram agreed to what Sarai said. 3 So after Abram had been living in Canaan ten years, Sarai his wife took her Egyptian maidservant Hagar and gave her to her husband to be his wife. 4 He slept with Hagar, and she conceived.
When she knew she was pregnant, she began to despise her mistress. 5 Then Sarai said to Abram, "You are responsible for the wrong I am suffering. I put my servant in your arms, and now that she knows she is pregnant, she despises me. May the LORD judge between you and me."
6 "Your servant is in your hands," Abram said. "Do with her whatever you think best." Then Sarai mistreated Hagar; so she fled from her.

7 The angel of the LORD found Hagar near a spring in the desert; it was the spring that is beside the road to Shur. 8 And he said, "Hagar, servant of Sarai, where have you come from, and where are you going?"
"I'm running away from my mistress Sarai," she answered.

9 Then the angel of the LORD told her, "Go back to your mistress and submit to her." 10 The angel added, "I will so increase your descendants that they will be too numerous to count."

11 The angel of the LORD also said to her:
    "You are now with child
and you will have a son.
You shall name him Ishmael, [a]
for the LORD has heard of your misery.

    12 He will be a wild donkey of a man;
his hand will be against everyone
    and everyone's hand against him,
and he will live in hostility
    toward all his brothers."

lindalecowboy - I am a devout Christian. I appreciate your kind words. I was mearly trying to make a point with my original post. I do not disagree at all that the Arabs have lost their way. I refer you to verse 12 above. It is this verse that leads me to believe that we will never have true peace with the Muslim community.

Noting from this and previous threads that there is epidemic of misinformation and just plain old ignorance* about islamic beliefs compared to Christian beliefs, I offer the following links as means of educating oneself on the matter. No, the resources listed are NOT exhaustive on the subject. But these would be good places to start. There are scores of good books available on Amazon.com and in your local library that will contribute to your knowledge of the subject. It really is prudent to be informed, especially in light of the pressing and ever-increasing threat of islam against Western thought and culture, and in view of the steady stream of DIS-information flowing from the media, celebrities, and politicians, the president not excluded.

    http://www.bible.ca/islam/

http://www.hti.umich.edu/k/koran/simple.html (a place to search the koran in English--but you must remember that English versions of the koran are often "sanitized," that is, made to appear less violent and less antagonistic toward Westerners, when compared to the arabic language versions)

    http://www.listislam.cjb.net/

http://www.answering-islam.org/ (one of the best researched and documented sites on the subject)

http://www.answering-islam.org/God/index.html (excellent outline of comparison of islamic view of "god" vs. Christian Biblical view of God)

*no offense meant with the use of the term "ignorance"--everyone is ignorant until they become informed or educated. Ignorance can be deadly--willful ignorance of matters of life and death is foolish, and it can have very negative impact on ones children and family. You wouldn't allow your children to handle your guns without first instructing them and warning them of the dangers inherent in them, would you? You can't teach what you don't know. Don't YOU want to be informed so that YOU can do what is right by YOUR family and love-ones? There is more at stake with islam than most of us realize--certainly more than some on this forum are willing to acknowledge. Wise up--and survive!

Joe...I do precursor statements that cannot be backed up with fact as "IMO" or "I believe". If you can show me where I've missed one, please let me know and I will correct it...make sure you read the post carefully though. I try not to miss these kinds of things. stop by the forum and there
is a thread on a bit that has been circulating re:obama
its odd to see a meme in the wild

like catching site of a rare bird
wish i could talk to whomever started the meme, not the post, but the meme
any one wonder why obama is the man to beat, clinton is the heir apparent, and no one wants to let paul in front of a camera?

Thanks, Eric. I hear 'ya. And as a devout Christian, I also believe. I have the Word through Jesus Christ. I probably won't be having my statements prefaced with "IMO". But what about those who aren't the same as me? If I were moderating, I would be dropping the "IMO" prerequisite in the interest of fairness to all. It's a "tag" that I don't agree with. Best, Joe

What, the reference to the tree-headed God? By the way you failed to put IMO before "They are not the same God." The simple fact is that the Muslim God is far closer to the Jewish God than the THREE Gods that you worship.
