    No support. I think many people hit it on the head. It will just create a large black market. Home brewing kits are easy to hide though.

    Why should booze be anymore legal than heroin or pot? It would certainly clear up a lot of hypocrisy in our legal system and put all the alcoholics in the same boat as drug addicts. It works so well with other drugs. Surely it would not be like the 20s this time.

    The war on drugs has not been won, and the govt seems to think its worth fighting, instead of taxing some substances and actually controlling them.

    Isn't it ironic, how they call illegal drugs, 'controlled substances', when in fact the only controlled substances are ones you need a prescription to get?

    Legalize most things, then with the money saved from fighting it, and the revenue from taxing the hell out of it, you could open up more rehab clinics for people that WANT to quit.

    I still do not understand how the government can think that alcohol is safer than herb ... every time I watch the show 'cops' some drunk is getting a disorderly conduct or tazed. The pot heads are mellow with an 'ok' attitude.

    No. Even though I have cut back on beverages, and am now a very moderate drinker -- 2 or 3 drinks a week (as opposed to 2 or 3 DRUNKS a week when I was in college). I agree that the abuse of alcohol cannot be tolerated in our modern society, where we drive everywhere at all times. But while I am no libertarian, in this case the gov't has no business butting in on personal consumption.
