Watches....
Just on a whim I started looking for a simple watch that I can wear to work or out in the field. I have dress watches already. I just need one to beat around a little bit.
Anyone ever heard of Daich Watches?
I really like this watch but know nothing about them. I really don't know if I should trust a watch this cheap. It looks decent, but you'll never know. Does anyone make a watch similar to this that you know you could trust?
Edit: I don't like nylon or rubber

I'd just go to wally world and get a cheepo for about $5. If it does break you just go buy another.
That is all I used to do when I did wear a watch because every watch I ever put on gets broken.
Anymore I do not wear one because of this. I just use my cell phone to tell the time.0 -
I have never heard of that brand before. When it comes to a beater watch, I really like coleman watches myself. Have had real good luck with them. I'm not sure if they actually make them or somebody else does(and they just slap their name on it), but they have proven to be quite durable and you can get them for around $10-$15(maybe less).

...neither has the hacking feature though, but what you expect for a few clinkies. Heck, spring the $150-$200 bucks for a nice WWII Bulova that does have the hacking feature...a piece of history...and NO batts!! [^]
...My favorite beater watch is a $30 buck, oh hell, can't remember the name..the company makes tennie-grippers [:0]...it has a back light at the press of a button; I like that feature when hunting and especially bass fishing at night...but I do like the watch I posted a link to..."elegantly understated, and wears well with camo"...[:D]

I have a Timex Expedition that looks very similar to the Daich you posted. Mine is black where that one is green. Best watch I have ever found for wearing 24/7 no matter what you are doing. My current one is about 4 years old and hasn't missed a lick. Had one before this one that went 6 years. For $30, can't beat them. I like the indiglo feature on them too. 0 -
timex...get simple one with easy to read face,day-date windows & lite up...quartz with battery that lasts several years & get battery anywhere..have several fancier watches but keep coming back to these.... 0 -
I've got dress watches that run several hundreds of dollars that I wear. But, like you, I don't want to wear them when I'm working out, hunting, etc.
Timex Expedition makes a fantastic all-around beater watch. You can swim with it, you can drop it, step on it, bang it against the wall, etc. It might take on a few scratches and dings, but you can bet your bottom dollar that it'll run and run and run.
They cost about $30. They're not pretty, but they do the job and do it great.0 -
I have started to stay away from watches with the plastic cases. I have had two timex watches get stress cracks in the case and take on moisture. 0 -

I don't know if they sell them at Army/Navy surplus stores anymore, but the plain black face watches we were issued as aircrew were basic, pretty rugged, and weren't overly unattractive. Mine is still functional after 37 years and it took a pretty good beating. 0 -

I've had 3 Timex Expedition watches. (I'm rough on em too)Got one that I dropped and knocked the second hand off, it still is accurate if the minute hand don't drag on the loose one. (gotta take it apart and get that thing out of there "someday") Pulled the stem out of another trying to set the date. (fixable also) The only recurring problem I've had is the indiglo feature fails when the battery is just a little bit down. Way before it quits being accurate on time. (like about 6 months) They'll corrode some too but that don't stop em from keeping time. Swap out the chinee leather band at first opportunity too it's the worst thing about them.

x2 , i ware the same watch..it been scuba diving in N.Z , paragliding in Italy, bog crawling in the UK,& walking the hills of Scotland (-10c), & done the boogie in Tenneriffe.. & never been off my wrist for 3 yrs solid..never missed a tick !! [^]0 -
