Gander Mountain

I went to Gander earlier to kill some time. While I was there I thought I would get some powder for reloading my 7mm Rem. so I get three pounds of IMR 7828 and then I noticed that the price had been blacked out with a marker. So I asked for a price check and they wanted $39.99 for a pound of powder!!

I knew that they were high but man now they have gone completely crazy.

I can get it at the local gun club for $22 per lb. I won't go back.

    Same here, Terre Haute, IN. way overpriced--great selection though on normal 'run-of-the-mill' items. Can't afford to look at used guns.

    This is VERY common at the Gander Mtn by me, BUT in Michigan we have a scanner law that means if your overcharged you get a "Reward" for pointing it out to them. Usually $5.00 + the diff. The thing is we go back buy the same item and guess what... Overcharged again. I can't tell you how many times the have paid me to buy stuff. We also have a Sportsman Whse by us and the prices and service is MUCH better than Gander Mtn.

    This is a common practice at GM.... I have been in several arguments with moronic employees over price differences. Anyone else see where they use a sharpie to cross out an old price then re-tag it several dollars higher. They have ammo there that has gone from 7.99 to 25.99... some if it is federal ammo from 10 years ago. Shameful.

    Have a GM within 20 miles of me.
    Have a Cabelas that is a 4 hour drive away.

    I go to Cabelas. For the Gander Mountain low on selection and quailty. High on price.

    About the same here..20 mins to GM, 2 1/2 hrs to Cabela's or BPS.

    I think they are ALL overpriced, espicially GM. Handgun and ammo prices are stupidly high. Geez, Dicks has best ammo prices of all the Big Box stores, even if they don't have much in the line of firearms.

    We just had a Cabelas open up in Lacey, WA and I love going there. At least in this stores gun section the people have been very helpfull. We also have a Sportsmans Warehouse which is nice. There is a SW less than a mile from the new Cabelas, I wonder how it is doing.

    We are supposed to be getting a Bass Pro, and Cabelas within 15 miles from here.... I bet that GM will go out of business when they open.

    You say you are getting a new Gander Mountain? Hmmm, too bad you just can't take the one we have off of our hands. It opened last summer here in Jacksonville, Florida. WOW ! Talk about high prices !! They have a great selection, not surprising considering the price tags virtualy say they are for display only!

    I hope yours will be more sensibly priced, but I bet there is not much chance of that. Stick with you local shop. He may be higher than wally world, but I bet he can beat GM pricing!

    I hate paying retail for anything. Cab's, Gander, Dicks= total clip joints.

    i will never shop at gander mountain again. they never have what i need and their prices suck. the gander mtn where i live (greensburg, pa) even lost one of their computers a couple months ago that had all their customers credit card info on it. at least dick's sporting goods has decent sales from time to time.

    Hattiesburg, MS just got one a few months ago. I've been in it twice. Both times I paid through the nose for powder and primers but it was still cheaper than ordering thorugh the internet and having to pay the hazardous material fee. They do have a great selection of firearms. Their long arms are all out on racks so you can pick up and handle the weapon. If you want to touch it, feel it, and hold it go to GM. If you want to buy it go to your gun shop.

    Rockford Illinois store is way too proud of most of their firearms. The last couple of firearms I purchased, I looked there, but bought elsewhere.

    Got on their website,GM retail stores have a 14 day price match gaurantee against other local (within i hours driving time)stores.I guess you could bring a dated sales paper from other stores and get a price match in store so you dont have to go back with the proof.Sounds like a lotta hassle.ALSO,for anyone who has had a negative experience at GM,get on their website,there is a feedback on your store visit,just list the store and type your beef or good experience.
