Just kill it. It's not like they're endangered.

A lady friend of mine asked me to go to her house one morning and deal with some mice she had caught on glue traps, and didn't know what to do with them. I went there, and her two sons, pretty big boys, were there and they didn't know what to do either. So...I showed them.

There were four mice on two glue traps, all alive, and all squeaking just as you described. I had the boys bring me some plastic grocery sacks. I put the sacks inside one another for extra strength. I put the traps into the sack. Then we went outside. I tied the sack shut, dropped it on the ground, and stepped on it until the squeaking stopped. Then I put the sack into the trash.

The boys watched all this, and I told them that they can do the same thing if they ever catch any more mice.

Being efficient, I always pinched the mice with pliers, pulled them off the glue traps and then reused the glue traps. Waste not, want not. Don

i would have stomped on it just to hear it squish. just kidding. we have an electronic mouse trap that runs off a 9v battery and it kills them instantly so you don't have to hear them scream.

This is why the BEST MOUSE TRAP IN THE WORLD is a slick-sided plastic bucket with 6 to 8 inches of water in it, and a rotating drum on top with peanut butter on it. The drum rolls (nice pun), they drop in the water and drown, and Mr. homeowner has no need to administer a coup de grace.

They can be unbelievably cute, though. I often marvel at how tiny they are, and how cute, right before I kill the little buggers.

Yep, I've been dealing with the same problems and am new to the glue traps. I just put them in the plastic bag, tie it shut and put them in the outdoor trash can ... alive. So, I was curious one day when I caught one, how long do they last until they freeze to death? So, I placed one on top of a snow drift off my balcony ... he stopped moving about 20 minutes later.

At first I was drowning them with dish washing soap ,,, but come to find out, if they get enough soap on them, they can get loose [:0] ... no more of that.

If you can't bear hearing their cry ... spend the loot for an electronic one they sell at Ace hardware, among other places, the mouse goes in, and when they set the trap, they get zapped, done. Dump it in the toilet, flush and reset. [:D]

We had a bad problem with them last couple of years. Last winter I was asleep and my wife and daughter were getting ready for school and work. They started screaming and I got up and went into the bathroom where they were. The cats had treed a mouse on the shower rod. I (like a dumbazz) grabbed the mouse to take it out and kill it and the little SOB bit me on the finger. I dropped it and it ran up my leg. I ended up running outside with it clinging to my back. The whole time my wife is laughing and my little girl is screaming her head off. Ended up going to the doc and getting a tetanus shot.

Years ago I was working at an upscale deli when what should scamper across the floor but a mouse! I picked it up, took it outside and squeezed it's throat until I heard the neck break. Then I tossed it in the dumpster.

And those were in my hippie days!

LMAO, why didn't you just flick it in the toilet and flush? Funny to see them try to swim and keep up with the short lived current. [:D]

My wife is as country as they come, but she will kill you to get away from a mouse. She will not let me kill any snakes around here (non-poisonous) because she says they eat mice. She once would not go into the basement for a week til I killed the mouse she had seen. I finally found a dead one out in the garage and showed it to her (from a distance) to convince her to go back into the basement. We were running out of clean clothes and the washer is in the basement.

I tried letting some go from one of those sticky traps once--pulled their little legs clean off. Talk about meeping!!!

I always heard if you put them in the freezer their body temperature drops they go into hibernation then die from the cold.... Donno if it works or not. Me personally I use a regular mouse trap or a broom.

Before we got married. My wife had some mice in her apartment. It was a town home with 3 stories. Well one day I see a mouse go behind the entertainment center. Well the chase was on. I told my wife to stand there and keep it in one spot. Went to my truck, got some leather gloves. Took about a half an hour of running around, but I finally got her. I say her, because about 2 days later I had slept over and woke up in the morning hearing awful squeak, squeak, squeak in the hall of my wifes bedroom. WTH? Well we tore the closet apart. In wrapping paper that mouse had a liter of mice, there were 5 of them, all alive with just a little fuzz of hair, still had their eyes closed, maybe about an inch long. I must have watched them for an hour. Interesting little things. They ended their life in the dumpster. HAHA[}:)]

I don't have a problem with baby mice or baby rats. They grow up into disease carrying rodents who will destroy your property and make you and your family sick.

If you don't want to kill them, take them to the exotic pet store and they'll feed them to the snakes.

I'll just stick with waking Larry up....poor Larry. (I say that a lot these days.) If he wants to squish them, pinch them, stomp them, feed them to other critters or dress them up and take pics I don't mind. I just like the whole not knowing factor on my part. I just wish it hadn't squeeked when we walked into the room. Usually a little mouse is impossible to find...but to try and get our attention while stuck to that trap just made me super sad for it...poor little thing.

You reminded me about my first wife. She was scared to death of mice. Couldn't pay her enough to take dead one out of a trap. She found 3 running around in a empty kitchen trash can one morning and decided to be brave and whack them with a broom! The lil boogers ran up the broomhandle and got on her! Never seen or heard such carrying on in my life! Dishes breaking, holes knocked in the sheetrock, cussin, screamin, dog hid under the bed and wouldn't come out. Took me about 20 minutes to quit laughing! Don't think she ever forgave me. (if I'd been smart I'd went with the dog)[B)][xx(][V]

    20 years later...it's still funny.
