I shot one once witha bb gun. It bled so much I couldn't believe it!! It looked like killed someone!!
I use the glue traps, drop the mouse and trap in a plasic grocery bag and slam it on the ground then toss it in the outside trash......I hate mice!

I answered a 911 call at about 0530 one morning where all the operater could hear on the open line was a woman screaming bloody murder. Three cop cars headed that way with red lights and sirens going.

Turns out she'd walked in her kitchen for her morning coffee and found a rat snake stuck on one of those large glue trays. Poor snake looked embarrassed.

Caught two in my big outdoor trash can a few weeks ago. Took it out to the middle of the back yard, opened the lid and teed them up with a two iron! (finally figured out what that club is supposed to be used for! [:D][}:)])

That's what "mouse" guns are for. One year in deer camp they would come out into the firelight (outside) and I'd zap them with my bearcat.

I hate the sticky type traps because of this. When my oldest was about four years old I caught a small mouse on one of these traps I has set in our kitchen. It was cute, at least she thought so, and she didn't want me to kill it. I had to put rubber gloves on, and go out side and try and wash the glue off of it. That glue was so sticky that it was about impossible. I finally got the little critter released from the trap, and walked over to the back fence in our yard and tried to toss it into the horse pasture behind our house. The sticky little bugger wouldn't come unstuck from the rubber gloves. I had to take one off, and use my bare hands to free him and then flip it off into the grass. I told her it ran off as soon as it hit the ground, but that sticky thing didn't go anywhere; I saw it get stuck to the side of some tall grass. I spent the next few minutes using gasoline to try and wash the glue off my fingers. I have never used one of those traps since.

what with all the topics on eating what you kill , no one thought about mouse-ka-bobs

Yes they have - but as burritos!

Here's a fine recipe: Mice can be substituted if you have a good supply.

"My husband, Tim, originally devised this recipe as an easy, filling dinner for us. Make it for your own dinner and you'll have plenty left over to serve the kids - a Mexican treat as well."

1 well boiled rat (fatter the better)
1 packet specialty rice mix (e.g., Lipton's "Rice & Sauce"), any flavor
    1 16 oz. can non-fat refried beans
    1 C. low-fat mozzarella cheese, shredded
    1 11 oz. can corn
3 large flour tortillas or 6 small ones, preferably a low or non-fat variety
    Salsa to taste

First gut and skin the rat - fatter the better. Remove head and tail - save the tail for Rat Tail Soup. When ready, boil your rat for 30 minutes - separate small bones from meat. Slice and dice meat - use two rats for more flavor. Set aside. Cook the rice according to the directions on the package, but without adding the butter or margarine called for in the directions. (It tastes fine without all that fat - honestly!) While rice is cooking, place beans in a small pot and heat. When rice is done, mix with corn. Lay out tortillas and divide rice equally among them, placing it along the center of each tortilla. Divide refried beans equally among them, putting it on top of rice. Divide mozzarella equally and put it on top of beans. Fold ends of the tortillas over the mixture, then fold the sizes over to form a packet. Turn the burrito over so that the edges of the tortilla are on the bottom. Place burrito on a microwave-safe plate, cover with desired amount of salsa and microwave on high for two minutes. One large rat burrito serves one person.

Note: Extra burritos keep for up to two days in the refrigerator wrapped in plastic wrap, or can be frozen. Reheat in the microwave for about 2 minutes 30 seconds on high. (Before serving rat burrito, check to make sure beans are not too hot.)

It's best to leave the tail on while cooking the rat, same with a 'possum. It serves as a handle to remove it from the pot.

    I've seen this.

I didn't read the whole thread so someone probably already mentioned it but there is no squealing and not dirty traps when you use dcon.

Dcon works very good, expect if you have pets they could find the dead or dying mice & rats, and also be poisoned. Also with Dcon the critters try and find a water source, and usually end up dead outside the building they were in. However in cold & snowy areas these varmints will stay inside in the warmth and die in your walls. That tends to cause a rather bad smell at times.

    sticky traps?...

My god how inhumane....for cripes sake, at least get the old fashioned kind if you are going to kill it....I have never seen a sticky trap but from reading all the posts, I can only say again, why the hell would you want to use one of them IF you are just going to kill it anyways?....get the old fashioned trap, and it will die as soon as caught...

What is the use of the sticky trap?...can you release the mouse? what?..

So if you won't even hurt a mouse, I guess beating your unruly children may be a bit of a stretch?

I'm just teasing you, I hope you know!
