30 yrs old and unisureable!! mini rant
Just got off the phone with the insurance company.
currently I have insurance through the wife. it's an HMO with ridiculous rates. $300 a month for me doen't matter how healthy or unheathly you are still $300 bucks.
We just had a kid and the same $300 bucks to add him regardless of age and health.
So I applied for individual coverage should be about 1/2 the cost and was going to add the baby for about a 1/3 of what it was going to cost to add him to the wife insurance.
Ya right.
these people want me to pay the same rates as 45 yr old smoker $550 a month for just me, are they crazy!!!

That being high blood pressure which is not all that uncommon 60% of all Americans have HBP but only about 30% of those are ever dianosed and treated.
With treatment it is a non issue, treatment runs $1 a day for the pill.

I also have HBP, and take Cozaar.
My scrips cost me 7 bucks regardless of how expensive they are.

I feel really lucky that we are now covered by the City's insurance. 90/80 PPO with a $300 deduct with full dental and it does not cost us a dime. 0 -
I pay like $400/month for a family policy (4 people) and my company pays the rest. I am not sure what the rest is, but I assume it is like $1000 more. $1400/month is probably the total cost. That is medical, dental and vision PPO through Blue Cross/Blue Shield. 0 -
I've got 2 other apps in. Rocky mountain health care can bite me.
they currently insure me now for 300 a month under the wife I don't understand why there is a rate hike. their rate charts lia like a bastid. I should be paying 150-200 a month not 550!!

I have real insurance.
I can go where I want, and when I want.
HMO's require the "approved" doctor to allow you to see someone else, such as a specialist.
Every diagnostic procedure must be approved ahead of time, or you will pay out of pocket.
You will meet the real world around the age of 40!

Not a rip-off if something bad happens to your wife.
Major problems can run into the hundreds of thousands very quickly, and can proceed into the millions.

that was 98, the bill was just a little over 275,000. that my part.
I should have it paid off in about 10 yrs.

For those of you who have delt with the VA and have had a good experience you are lucky--it took my dad almost 3 years and letters and phone calls to both senators and the congressman of his district in CA(ya can you belive Feinstein and Boxer actually had to do something for a voter) to finally get the VA to do something for his condition that was caused by radiation that he was exposed to when he was in the Army Air Core(before it was called the Air Force)back in the 60's. 0 -

I pay $360 a month for my HMO. Tri-Not-Care and the VA are pathetic pretend HMO's that offer no real benefit....can't even get them to answer their phone to make an appointment.

VA health care is not the greatest. But have found I like it better than paying thru the nose for health care that is only slightly better than the VA and I mean Slightly.
Just had both wrists fixed by the VA Carple Tunnel Zero cost to me. Had a triple By pass Dec 06 again zero cost andthankfully my VA health provider found I had a problem before it cause a major health issue like a heart attack.
My only problem right now with the VA is the health Provider that was Assigned to me just retired. I still have not been assigned to a new doctor.
I tore up my right knee last may. Hit a deer while riding my motorcycle. Had VA check it just to make sure nothing was broken. But since its no service related they do not want to touch it. Regular Doctors just want to charge to much and my health coverage you never know when they will say NOT COVERED. And you end up stuck with the bill. So I let it heal on its own, just now getting betteer.0 -
