buy a vehicle off e bay if so how did it turn out?
found a pickup but is in texas longways from here to run and take a look at in person. not having any luck finding much for pickups up here.

I've got a friend who buys antique RR's all the time. Only one problem, from a seller from FL.

Hire someone in the area to look at it for you.
I wouldn't spend that kind of money without knowing anything about the truck.
Do the search thing --title --- wrecked--- motor history.
Contact the dealed in your area he might be able to help if you have the numbers of the truck0 -

I bought two cars off of ebay.... One from missouri and the other from right here in Nebraska. I had no troubles on either one.
Have you looked into getting the truck shipped to you... Thats what i did on the one i bought in Missouri. Turned out to be cheaper that way than to go get the car myself, By the time you figure in gas/hotel/food/ect.
Your other option is to fly down and pick it up and then drive it back... I know many people that have done this.0 -
I bought a truck a few years ago. It was about three hours away at a dealer. Figured I'd take a look at it before I put my money down. So I rode my motorcycle to pick it up.
Plan A was to buy the truck, load the bike in the back and drive home in new truck.
Plan B was to decide against it, ride the motorcycle back home and take the negative feedback.
Worked out OK. It was a good deal, a good ride and I got decent money out of it when I sold it last year.0 -

Have a friend who has bought at least three cars off ebay. Last was a Ford Powerstroke. This one turned out to be worked alot harder than the pictures or description. He felt burnt. I would atleast find one I could pick up myself. 0 -
I found my last three cars from autotrader.com similar to ebay except you don't have to pay in advance.
I have been happy finding cars online, and I will do so in the future.0 -

just about all the one ton dually pickups i am watching are in Texas.
there is a saying up here for farm machinery....If it has red dirt on it run away as fast as you can....dont know if that applies for autos?

drive it till it dies. I like a manual transmission, and the
4 wheel is nice. i've had 2 offers of people wanting to buy it.

You don't want to buy anything from them without a background check on the title. They've been accused of selling flood damaged, wrecked, and salvage cars that have gone through a title cleansing.0 -

I bought 2 Jeeps off ebay.
On one deal, I flew out to New York. the guy picked me up at the airport. Jeep was priced right so I figured I couldn't lose. Before we closed the deal, he told me if I didn't like it, I could turn around and go home-no charge. Auto trans didn't shift right and the switch that locked the 4 wheel drive in wasn't working. I realized something wasn't quite right but I drove it home anyway. I paid a local mechanic $750 to rebuild trans and replace switch. Drove it 3 years and sold it for about what I had into it, so it ended up being a good deal, but he wasn't completely honest with me when he described vehicle.
Second one was another Jeep. I drove to Indiana with a trailer for this one. This Jeep had the body changed to a fiberglas one and therefor had no VIN plate on it but he had the original title and some documentation. I bought it and had a guy I know that worked in the auto theft division of the State Police help me check it out. It was all legal parts, nothing stolen, but I still had to have it inspected and a new assembled vin assigned. If I had to do it over again, I would have turned around and headed home with the empty trailer and just been out the $50 for the trailer. It was a bigger pain and most companies won't insure it for collision because of the assembled vin. Oh well, live and learn.
I also had a friend get taken on a classic GTO that was supposed to have been restored and no bondo. The guy lied and my friend spent a bunch of money having it done right and still sold it at a considerable loss.
My advice-be careful.
If it is worth buying, it is worth a plane ticket or road trip to check it out.0 -

Where did you hear that? I live 21 miles from them and I've never heard of that before. Link please. But then again, when you'r the biggest Ford dealer in the country, your gonna have a target on your back.

Channel 5 (may have been channel 11, I forget) had a consumer alert early last year where they had three law suits for selling trucks with salvage titles that had been washed through Delaware, and in the report, it looked like they knew about it. I didn't hear the outcome of the law suits, but it was enough for me to buy elsewhere.0 -

My mom bought a 1980's Mercedes diesel off of ebay, I don't really know why.
The fella who was selling said it was in perfect condition, so she paid freight to have it shipped from Ohio. Turns out it was thoroughly rusted, and when it arrived, the AC, wipers, stereo, gauges and lights didn't function(took much more than fuses to fix). It also came with interior soaked with water from the journey.
In the end, she wasn't able to contact the seller. She paid with a cashiers check, so there was no way to stop payment.
From her purchase of a car off ebay, I wouldn't do it.0
