I don't see anything in the video that the officers are doing wrong.

    You gotta be kiddin me!

When you are arrested and booked into jail EVERYONE is strip searched.

    EVERYONE? You sure about that?

But this is what happens to drunks in jails that don't go along with the program.

67 years ago - "This is what happens to you Jews who do not go along with the program." said the Nazi SS officer.

    hauntingly similar.

Welcome to the police state of America

I agree with this action..PROVIDED the mony comes out of the perps pocket...and NOT mine.
It would come out of your pocket if you lived in that jurisdiction because the government has a duty to indemnify anyone sued during the course of their employment.

You don't get out much, do ya?

no sir, i work ,come home, stay out of trouble and in the woods, and i would'nt treat any human being like that, those that do in my opinion are as bad as the criminal themselves. have you ever been treated that way or are you one of the offenders of justice also[?]

tomahawk, without getting into the specifics of this incident because we don't know the details, how would you handle a strip search when the inmate resists being strip searched?

When I worked at the Corrections Facility (Maximum Security Prison) the policy was if the inmate doesn't resist the strip search you don't touch him. If he does resist, you use as much force as necessary and no more force than is necessary to accomplish the search.

The alternative would be to say "OK, never mind."

jamesrk, one or two women could handle this situation. she is in handcuffs. this whole scenario could have been avoided with the issue of a prisoner jump suit offered to the offender. and them fellas should have taken a walk, it don,t take them fellas to hold her while she is being subjected to abuse and rape of her body. im sorry but i can control 2 men my size, she is 125 lbs. if this is what happens in jail , it ain't no wonder there are cop haters in the world. she is innocent until proven guilty. this is still the U>S>A>

prison is different, they have been convicted. this is jail. she had not been to court yet and is innocent until proven guilty. those that offend the constitutional righst of the people, should not mind when theirs is offended and lost

Proven guilty or not, if you are going to be held in jail you should be strip searched. Jail guards and fellow unconvicted prisoner's safety is just as important in jail as it is in prison.

tomahawk, it has nothing to do with guilt or innocence. It has to do with security in the jail. We know she wouldn't say she wasn't a threat to herself or others (Channel 3 News Video), and she presumably resisted the search.

You say you can control 2 men your size. Evidently she could control 2 women her size. Hence the additional help.

Even if you are booked on bogus charges, once you are booked you are an inmate. Inmate searches are not the option of the inmate.

I have been arrested twice in my life. Neither time was I strip searched.

I have called 911 for help twice, also. Neither time was I strip searched.

    Please explain your statement further.

I'm assuming you were bailed out, it's SOP in every jail with any common sense to strip search anyone who enters general population. If you are just sitting there for a few hours awaiting a bail out that's another story.

You're missing my point, Ben. Alpine said "That treatment is what happens every day, in every jail, everywhere in the USA."

My point is that: No, it doesn't. And especially not when you are the VICTIM. I'm sure there is MORE to this story on BOTH sides than has come to light yet. Too many holes in the story (and video) on the cops side. They violated their own policy.

I believe, if I was on the jury and no new facts come to light, I would have to award them a large sum, also.

My buddy had somewhat of the same senorio happen to him when he was wrongfully arrested and taken in. When he was being questioned they ask if he had ever thought of hurting or killing himself and he jokingly said "yes right now I do" The forcefully moved him to the ground, stripped him, then threw him in a cell with no food or water for almost a full day. After the word was out that he was arrested and his family went down looking for him they were able to get him out he spread the word and i guess he is not alone. [B)]

Lawsuit pending, his initial charges for arrest dropped.[:D]

Just what I was told. May not be the truth. Bottom line this video is good to have out their. Just imagine the stuff that goes on when the camera's aren't rolling[:(]

guntech, I think everybody is missing everybody's point. It might be an exaggeration to say "That treatment is what happens every day, in every jail, everywhere in the USA", but that is what happens when an inmate refuses to be searched.

Inmates pretty much run the facilities as it is. Most of us don't want drugged up armed inmates running the facilities. That's what happens when the inmates decide when and where they will be searched.

if this is standard across the U>S>A> then every law enforcement agency in this country is guilty of violation of the constitutional rights of the people they are sworn to protect and serve, they are no better than the government that abuses the rights, and makes gun confiscation look like a picnic, compared to what the people in this country are in store for. i regret to know of these violations, and hope to GOD, that none of the fine officers of the law, that i know here, would partake of such acts, before a person is convicted, and if so ,i hope the lord punishes them,by the yoke of slavery, that they have earned, by stripping them at end of the very rights that they have abused in others. sorry i feel so strongly on this fellas, but this by gods law will not abide by him.

tomahawk. Might as well give up on this. Cops are above the law and god also. I have never been in trouble with the law in my life but I have never meet, talk, known a cop that was mot better that you or above you, they are talk about support of the 2nd. but be the 1st. ones to try and take them rights away from us. Florida pass stand your ground a few years ago without support of LE. Said we will protect you, Right, Most people see thur them for what they are, gun control over the past 140 years have came from being pushed by some type of law officers be it LE, FBE, ATF, State Police, local, city, county so on. We have already seen it many many times in the last 100 years. Everyone is so worried about Hilary, McCain, and others, but when it happens most all cops will be right there to take the guns. I will add there are a few good ones. All the LEO on this forum would you take away are guns if they pass it or would you go home and fight! I already know from what Nunn has said in the that it would be a sad day but would go home. Flame away.

If it were possible I wish every person that is about to graduate from high school would be required to tour a jail. Most of you people have no clue as to how things work in a jail. You only know how some things outta work in a perfect world that exists in your mind.

The tour would be a real eye opener!

tomahawk, what we have here is a failure to communicate. [:D]

You still haven't told us your alternative to a forced strip search when an inmate refuses to be searched. There is no Constitutional right for an inmate to refuse a strip search. There is no Constitutional right for an inmate to have drugs or weapons inside a jail or prison.

Whether a person has been convicted or not has absolutely nothing to do with it. Correctional officers in prisons, deputy sheriffs in the county jails and police officers in the city jails have no authority to punish an inmate, convicted or not. They do have authority to maintain good order and discipline inside the institution. Searches are part of maintaining good order and discipline. When an inmate is of the opinion he or she will not be searched, their opinion doesn't count.

    This is nothing new.
