$70 to ship a NAA Mini Revolver!
I placed a bid on this item and then e-mailed the seller to get an idea of what he would charge for shipping. He e-mailed me back and told me $70! This guy is out of his mind! He said his dealer charges him that much so he passes it along to the buyer! I guess he is going to have alot of problems unless he posts his shipping fees in the auctions! There is no way I am paying $70 for shipping! In the auction it states "Buyer pays actual shipping costs"

"Actual shipping costs" can be a catchall for packing, transfer fees, gas, labor, postage and anything else the seller wants to charge. Whenever you see that, you should ask the seller specifically what those costs are going to be BEFORE you bid. 0 -
Why would someone bid without knowing the shipping cost??

Yes, I will back out on this one. I have 394 A+ ratings but I am not paying $70 for shipping, when my dealer only charges about $15-20 to ship a handgun. He listed "actual shipping costs" which I understand to mean, what the post office or UPS charges! 0 -

I wouldnt pay him 70.00 to ship that either.
It states actual "shipping charges", not his "transfer dealer fees plus actual shipping charge"
he can ship it UPS for about 30.00 even if he isn't a dealer.0 -

looks like a lot of people didn't ask first on this one I see its got 11 bids. I think you should have checked first.
I think that there are times when backing out of a bid is legitimite $70. shipping probably is a good reason Because I'm not a seller I don't know what I would do in this situation. probably I would e-mail the seller and inquire about being relived of the bid. But a guy who has a 394 A+ rating wouldn't give much thought to a negative rating on his tally. Even I who has 5 or 6 a+ rating would consider not buying or $70.
I will say that I have bought things at auction that I was mistaken about, and went on and kept them anyway (throw them in my dumbass drawer). I have also been banned from a auction site over a dispuit and I still believe I was right so They lost my patronage, I guess they didn't care and I didn't either.
Even on this sight I bought a gun that I was mistaken about (total my bad) and I called the seller and we worked out a deal that satisfied us both. I purchased a different gun for more money and used my original auction money on the deal.0 -
And I cant help but wonder just how many who say "you should have checked first" would just pay it and shut up?...just so as not to receive a bad rating or not admit they "didnt check first?" 0 -

I shipped a pistol a couple months ago FEDEX and it cost me $68. I am not an FFL and I shipped it to an FFL. I have more hand guns I would sell, how do I get cheaper shipping? 0 -

Find a dealer who will send it out with his shipments USPS and it will only cost you half that.0 -
I sold a few pistols by taking it to my local ffl they charged me 10 per gun and then shipped it by usps for 8 to 15 bucks max of 25.00 0 -

According to this info listed on Gunbroker
US Mail: An unlicensed person can ship a rifle or shotgun by US Mail. Unlicensed persons cannot ship a handgun by US Mail. Postal regulations allow the Post Office to open your package for inspection. Ammunition cannot be shipped by US Mail. You can search the US Post Offer Postal Explorer site for specific USPS regulations regarding firearms and ammunition.
FedEx: FedEx will only ship firearms via their Priority Overnight service. Ammunition must be shipped as dangerous goods.
UPS: UPS will accept handgun shipments by Next Day Air only. Rifles and shotguns can be shipped by UPS ground service. UPS will accept shipments of ammunition. UPS does not allow shipment of firearms FROM an unlicensed person (even to an FFL), unless the stated reason for the firearm shipment is for repair or modifications.

Yes, $70 is too much but I did have to pay $45 to get an FFL to ship a handgun to another FFL for me. This guys rates have been climbing and I am looking for another FFL to use for transfers. I would have to drive more than a hour round trip to get to a USP or FEX EX depot to ship it myself, that is if I can talk them into taking it.
If I won the auction and could not stomach the $70 fee I would offer to pay his auction fee if he would not post negative feedback.

You would be right to do so. Actual shipping costs means just that. Don't even give it a second thought.0
