$70 to ship a NAA Mini Revolver!
I placed a bid on this item and then e-mailed the seller to get an idea of what he would charge for shipping. He e-mailed me back and told me $70! This guy is out of his mind! He said his dealer charges him that much so he passes it along to the buyer! I guess he is going to have alot of problems unless he posts his shipping fees in the auctions! There is no way I am paying $70 for shipping! In the auction it states "Buyer pays actual shipping costs"

I wished I lived closer to you guys that are getting ripped by their FFL's. I've never charged more than $20 Service charge to ship or receive. Of course the cost of postage is on the customer. But, my point is I could make pretty good money at $20 a pop. 0 -
It does seem excessive and I am in one of those states that require that I transfer to a Michigan dealer before it gets shipped out of state to another FFL.
My dealer charges me $20 plus the $10 that the permit costs him, plus the actual US postage and insurance fees so I say "actual US Postal shipping and insurance costs plus $30" in my auctions but even a $2000 gun will ship for less than $60 total anywhere in the US and the insurance is about $19.90 on that $2000 gun.
Postal rate charts are available at your local post office for free so you can figure the exact amount that US postage and insurance will cost.0 -

A licensed FFL dealer can ship a handgun thru the USPS, Priority Mail.0 -
I also state actual shipping charge on many auction items that I do not know the cost until I have sent it. I try and get an estimate before so I can tell the buyer the cost. I NEVER add anything for my packing, fuel to mail it or any other cost other than - ACTUAL SHIPPING COST. This guy is a JERK.
He should have stated that there would be additional fees associated with the shipping cost like the added dealer fees etc.
$70 to ship a NAA pistol in a small box is CRAZY. Even half ($35) is a bit steep. His FFL can ship to another FFL using USPS and shipping cost would be no more than $15.
Add that seller to your BEWARE LIST.0 -
DO NOT BID on any auction that does not list shipping costs up front . He probably didnt get what he wanted out of the auction so he will make it up screwing you on the shipping charges. 0 -
You could get a little revenge by sending PayPal a link to his auction. They'll boot him for selling a gun through them. [}:)] 0 -

I get firearms every day that are sent COD... why do you say COD not allowed? That means every distributor I do business with on a COD basis is ignoring FedEx and UPS rules?0 -

My FFL charges me $50 for bookwork and then 10-20 more for shipping USPS. I am guessing that it will be around $40-$50 total IF I can work outsomething with them but I cannot promise anything.0 -
Does Michigan have a state law that he has to go through an FFL? If not, wouldn't it be cheaper to just skip the FFL in Michigan and ship direct to your FFL? He can't go through USPS, but any carrier would be cheaper than $70.00. 0 -
Yes, Michigan requires it go through a FFL to continue the paper trail. You take it to the FFL, the FFL logs it into his book and out to the out of state FFL. They even have a special form which the FFL picks up from the county or local police agency and Michigan even allows them to charge a fee for the form. What a crock!
Michigan is democrap run.
They even charge you a late fee if you fail to renew your license plates by your birthday even if the car has not been driven. I hate this crap! But the voting people in the big cities keep saying "Thank You, Sir (Ma'am)! May I have another? Please break it off in me again!"0
