    Probably not.
Perverts, divorces, things that really get under your skin, all in a place that is sometimes very unfair. Nope. Packed like sardines in there, it is a very unfriendly shootout place.

Don't you guys EVER think anything through? "Any lawabiding citizen" would also include unindicted gang members, suspected terriorist, mobsters, members of the accused family, brothers/fathers/uncles of rape victims, and maybe just some idiot that wants to kill a big name.

You really want to be in there with all of those jokers holding your life in their hands?[xx(]

How about a bucket full of large suckers? We are talking about a court room, after all. They might not have enough involved in the case.

Hell yes. I've got 65 years under my belt of conduct proving that I am an honest, lawful, and responsible person. If I can't conduct myself properly in a courtroom (or anywhere else) or if there is a reasonable chance I will just pull my gun and start shooting, THEN I SHOULDN'T EVEN BE ABLE TO OWN ANY GUNS AT ALL.

If you are a good enough citizen to be able to own guns, then you should be able to carry a gun anywhere or anytime you want to. Except maybe on private property. Gun rights and private property rights are both important rights.

Which is the difference between 'innocent until proven guilty', and 'guilty until you prove yourself innocent'.

heck yes I should be able to carry.

I should be the judge too...and jury...and executioner because I am always right and no one else's ideas are worth considering.

Absolutely not! Having worked court room security as a Deputy Sheriff, it can be very stressful during emotional cases, such as murder, rape, or child molestion. You let the father of a victim cary a gun into the court room and see what happens. You may be a sound, honest, law abiding citizen and then see the monster who hurt your child or raped your daughter and sanity goes out the window. Only Bailiffs, Deputies or Police should be allowed to carry into a court room. Besides, what reason would you have to carry a gun into a court room other than to a) exact your own justice or b) just to prove a senseless point? Just my opinion.

Nope. I was a bailiff in Superior Court. I was between the crooks and the crowd I wanted to be the only armed person in the room.

That is also how the criminals, who are looking for a victim on the street, feel about it. Also how many of the powerful, rich and famous people feel about other people (the common citizen) carrying guns.

I used to bring a pistol with me everytime that I went to court. From 1978 until Clinton took office, most attorneys carried pistols to court. Then, suddenly metal detectors were installed and NO GUNS were allowed. The police even had to check their pistols into lockers. Things have really changed! Imagine if this other Clinton gets into office...we're finished![:(!]

Here the lawyers do not have to go thru the metal detectors. They go around them. I guess they don't want them to find the bottle of booze most lawyers carry in their brief case. Don

From several pro-gun members here I have just read them justify lawful citizens being denied firearms using the same basic reasoning used by the people who want to outlaw all guns in regards to peaceful citizen ownership.

That reason being that if guns are allowed in courtrooms, then the crazies and criminals will have them. That argument is used by the gun banners wanting to outlaw all guns. Their reason is that if the good people have guns, then the bad people will also have guns. So, in their view, it is better to outlaw all guns in the hopes that the bad people, along with the good people, will not be able to have guns.

I don't feel very strongly about being able to carry in a court room. But if I did want to make a case for it, then I would say that if a majority of the courtroom visitors were carrying, then you would in effect have a great majority of the "good guys" armed. If that were the case, then the crazies and the violent criminals, their friends, relatives, etc. would be fools to do something crazy like pulling a gun.

Who would be dumb enough to be a lone bad guy and pull a gun on an entire roomfull of armed good guys? That is close to being as stupid as trying to rob the police station.

Note. Update. As a courtsey to my fellow GB.com members (especially the LEO'S, Court Room Baliffs, etc) I will admit that on the surface the idea of lawful citizens carrying concealed sounds llike it might be creating a dangerous situation. My feeling is that the people wanting to cause that danger would be afraid to becausse they would fear the good citizens that were armed to the point the bad guys would be afraid to pull any stunts.

But maybe if it ever gets to the point of the good guys carrying concealed, if it causes problems, then I will agree it is a bad idea. But maybe we should give it a chance as it has never been done in my lifetime. Just as a majority of states offering CCW to citizens has never been done before in my lifetime and that is working out just fine.

wouldn't that be true outside courtrooms as well? where do you draw the line? using that logic, no one should be allowed to carry anywhere.

Big difference between being in court and being on the street. Remember the joke about the college professor, god, and the marine (and the crazy-assed Maggot (Telly Savallas) in The Dirty Dozen)? God is not limited to what tools he may use (to exact justice). Even normal people can lose their cool if they believe they are not receiving justice on an important issue. Any man that claims he hasn't had thoughts about killing a wife during a divorce is a liar. No guns in court is not a new rule. Even in the distant past, people thought it was a good idea for spectators not to be armed.
On the street, rational thought is not set aside by emotion.
So do you guys also want a drunk in a bar to be packing? Traditionally a no-no, but what the hell? It's his and your right, right?
Why should people be restricted from shouting "FIRE" in a movie theater? After all, they can say it everywhere else.

Go ahead and exercise your rights boys. [B)]

In red above. Because shouting "fire" in a threater when there is no fire is merely disruptive behavior designed for nothing more than causing problems. A lawful, peaceful citizen carring a concealed firearm is nothing more than a good citizen trying to avoid problems that might be brought to him by the criminal element.

I see as big difference between the two examples.

mcdonalds usually isn't dangerous either. i've never been attacked in a mcdonalds, and i don't know anyone personally whose ever been attacked in a mcdonalds, but that doesn't mean i'm going to leave my sidearm in the car when i go in to get a cheese burger. it's all about having the RIGHT and the ability to protect yourself and your family.
