THE SCARIEST SITUATION YOU HAVE EVER BEEN IN
Mine was with my brother when i went on a ride along. I was 17 at the time. It was 2 am on st rt 6 in OHIO. Known for heavy drug transportation. 4 times occupied. He makes the stop for no plate light. My dad was a cop my 2 bros are cops and my grandpa was a cop. never went on a ride along before. He tells me it sucks out here because his only back up is the sheriffs dept and if they are on the other side of the county it could be 25-30 min away..WHat???????pfffff. He tells me if something happens to radio dispatch.. I was chitting...Make a long story short 2 had warrants and there was some weed in the car, just a mist but scared the crap out me. BTY That same brother made his tv debute on "The real miami vice in 2003" and works narcotics to this day. Pretty cool

A few years back i was out breaking horses at a friends house and i took one of the mares(had a history of being mean)and put her into her own pen. I wanted to get some other chors done and then i figured i would start to break that mare.
Now my friend had a lot of shetland ponies that he kept for the neiborhood kids to play with and ride around a little bit and about the time i was finishing my chors some of the kids started to show up... They immediately took off for the ponies and i haulered at them telling them to stay away from the mare that was two pens over from the ponies.
It was about five minutes later(I had just got done feeding the rest of the horses) i heard a terrible scream... I looked over and saw a 8-9 year old little girl in the same pen as the mare and the mare had her cornered and was REALY upset about this girl being in HER pen.
I ran and got into that pen as fast as i could and got in betwean the mare and that kid.. I got the kid out alright, but i took a little bit of a beating[B)]
At this point in my life that remains the scariest situation that i have ever been in... I wasn't realy scared for me... but i sure was for that kid.0 -

Used to have a girlfriend living with me and her mother came for a visit. While sitting watching morning news on the 2nd day of her visit, she came walking into the living room in just her bra and girdle. Scared the heck outta me!!(you know what they say, if you wanna know what a girl will look like in 30 years, look at her mother). That relationship didnt last. 0 -
While still a uniformed street cop one night I saw a guy appearantly breaking intoa car. I was approaching the guy, and started walking between two cars parked side-by-side close together. I identify myself and the guy comes at me, another guy I missed starts coming up from behind the car. At the time I was abut 180, both of them at least 250. Fight was on in a bad way. I pepper sprayed one, and the other one grabbed that arm. I clocked them both several times with the mag light, and after what seemed like an hour (more like a couple minutes really) I finally got them both cuffed.
Turned out one had a murder warrant and the other home invasion warrant with a prior second degree murder conviction-out on parol.
That was the only time I was realy sure I wasn't going home that night.0 -

Back in 1984, when I was 13 years old, I was at home alone and got robbed. Two guys got in the house, put a cloth bag over my head, covered me up with a heavy winter coat, and made me sit in a corner while they stole stuff from the house. NOT A FUN DAY!!!! 0 -

A similar question was asked back in May of 2007 and this was my scariest moment then and still is:
I was part of the backend crew of an E2B and one fine day in 1972 while in the Tonkin Gulf we were launching off the starboard cat of the USS Midway (CVA-41) to fly a standard Early Warning/Combat Support mission. The cat hit, we started going down the deck and about half way down the E2's starboard prop auto feathered. Witnesses on the deck said when we went over the bow our plane went down and out of sight followed by a lot of water coming up. Apparently we got close enough to the water that the port prop was picking up water. The pilot was as cool as cool could be and after all aircraft had launched, we made a very fast and flat single engine arrested landing. I seem to remember it took some time to pull my flight suit out of my puckered rear end. Since the Midway didn't have waist cats, the thought of the ship steaming over us wasn't particularly appealing!0 -

For those who's worst fear was accompanied by a life altering tragedy, I can only say you have my sympathy. I know how it feels to lose parents and I know the hell I went through waiting for my wife's biopsy, but thank God I've never had to go through losing my wife or a child. I hope you have found a way to cope with life.
The time that I had no shadow of doubt in my mind that I was a dead man was the first LM 1500 fire on the Gunboat.
A Patrol Gunboat has an aluminum hull and fiberglass superstructure. It's 164.5 feet long and 23.8 feet at the beam. Engines are two Cummins VT12-875 diesels and high speed mode is a General Electric LM 1500 gas turbine engine. Not designed to last very long in a hot fire.
We were operating on independent local ops in the high speed mode on the LM 1500 when a fuel line broke and sprayed hot fuel onto a hot engine. We went from a speed of "in excess of 35 knots" to dead in the water right now. I was on the 01 Level at the time. The stack was blowing heavy black smoke and fumes and the heat was like a blast furnace. I figured out right quick we were in trouble.
I had been relieved as Damage Control On Scene Leader the day before and reassigned to General Quarters Helmsman. I almost headed for the Engine Room but caught myself and went to the Pilot House and took the helm. There was a moment that I wanted to panic, but then it crossed my mind that what if by some miracle I live through this mess. I'd be known as a wuss for the rest of my life, so I decided not to panic.
The Captain had the deck but he was totally occupied trying to establish communications with the Damage Control Party. One of the Ensigns had the conn. He looked as scared as I felt. He looked at me, almost in a panic and said "What should I do? What should I do?" I told him about the only thing he could do was try to point her into the swells as best he could and try to give the DC Party as steady a platform as possible to fight the fire.
In the meantime an Engineman named Bascom Franklin did a few things which were not possible to do, but he did them. He climbed the stack with two five gallon cans of AFFF, opened them and dumped them down the stack. Then he came back down the stack and rigged the FP-180 by himself, went back up the stack and started pumping foam down the stack. I credit Bascom with saving my life and the lives of every man on that ship that day.
I don't have permission to use his name, but Bascom isn't the kind of man who would sue me.
After it was over, the Ensign thanked me for not letting him panic. I never told him that I was at least as scared as he was.
At the next Personnel Inspection the Master Chief Engineman, The Chief Yoeman and the First Class Corpsman got medals and Bascom Franklin got a Letter of Appreciation.
The fire did enough damage that serious consideration was given to just decommissioning the ship, but the Type Commander came up with the money somewhere. For a while after that we went to General Quarters before lighting off the LM 1500. We had a few small fires before everything got straightened out, but nothing like that one.0 -
Worst day, started at 5a.m. I get a phone call tell me that Noah's(my son's which I'm 7 months pregnant with) dad won't be coming home. He and a good friend ran off the road and both were killed. It was the worst day of my life. It was a hundred times worst then getting raped.
A few days later shortly after the funeral. I had complications with my pregnancy and almost lost my son. He was 2 months early. 8 days after his dad dies he was born. It was the scariest days of my life. I just lost his dad and I thought I was going to lose my son. We didn't know for awhile if he was going to make it. I'm shaking and getting misty eye just thinking about it.
It was the worst few weeks and the best few weeks of my life. I lost someone that meant the world to me. But I got a new son in return.
I still hard to belive he's gone. I know I'll never be the same again.0 -

Back in the '80's a buddy and I were drinking on the beach withs some aquaintences after a long deployment. One of 'em pulled a knife and slit my buddy's throat and turned to me. I just yelled and ran at him. The aquaintences both un-assed and I was able to find help for my buddy in a hotel lobby. A few minutes later, the two losers came strolling up the street. The night clerk at the hotel just happened to be an off-duty cop, so he badged them and got them where they needed to be.
My buddy survived. He has a pretty gruesome scar.0 -
I remember in my younger days me and my guide were chased into this dead end....there were indians on the right of us...indians to the left of us....indians in front of us and indians in back of us.....i turned to my guide and said..." we're in big trouble now" and he said what U mean "WE" paleface........YA! what a day that was 0
