should I sell or keep my rifles?

I have two rifles, a 1973 Marlin 30-30 and a early 80's Remington 700 in .270. Both are in good condition, even though the Marlin has some pitting on the end of the barrel. I used the Remington this past hunting season with good success, but I'm thinking I want a .308 or something else.

I really like the feel of the Marlin because of the lever action. I don't know why, but I'm not a great bolt-action kinda guy. I figured I could get a couple hundred for the Remington as a trade-in, and keep the Marlin. It may not be in the best shape, but it shoots straighter than the Remington IMO.

On the one hand, I have a nagging voice in my head that says never ever never ever sell a firearm. Why not keep it and have more than you need? On the other hand, if I'm really not loving it and could use it as a good trade, why not?

So.....y'all help me out and think for me. [:D]

    Unlike many here, I am not in the business of buying and selling guns. And I could never afford to be the level of enthusiast who has dozens upon dozens of firearms, and could sell a few without scruple. I have only a few, and in the past have had to sell several during hard times. Given the current political climate and the prospects for the future, I have sworn to never, ever again, sell a firearm. In fact, the wife and I are BUYING. It's time to start hoarding guns, ammo, and reloading components.

    AMEN to that.. My efforts are going to a very few weapons(all of which are mil inspired), spare parts for those few and reloading equip is a must.

    I can't afford it either, not to the level some/most of the people on here bring it to. I figure its a bare min of 3 weapons; battle rifle (mines an AR 6.8 SPC), Good pistol (sig229 .40) and a shotgun, which I havent been able to afford yet[:I]. But the ban is coming and I am less worried about some armageden as I am that I wont be able to shoot the guns that I find fun to shoot. btw M1a is a cool rifle, I bet its a lot of fun to shoot.

    Sadly, I have yet to shoot one either. In fact, the highlight of my rifle-shooting life was when I got to fire an M16 during Basic Training. A 20-round clip disappeared at fully automatic before I got to enjoy it!

    KEEP EM IF YOU CAN...... times a comin' when guns are going to be hard to get and even harder to get ammo for...... Hillary or Obama is coming and so you will need your guns.... remember the cold dead fingers thing.
