    it's pure laziness, some count it back backwards, some count it back like you would if you are counting how much you actually have, and more recently i've been running across the lazy cashier who has decided that their job is really getting in the way of their personal life, and don't give a crap and only do the minimum required to get by


    regardless if the count it or not, i stand right there and double check it, no reason should i trust their ability to count my money in the first place, i don't care if there is 20 people in line my transaction is not complete until i put my cash away safely


    hbbg don't even get me started at cause and effect of getting a fast food restaurant to come to a screeching halt

    I don't need someone to insult my intelligence by counting my change for me. Hand me my money. It will only take one glance from me to know it's all there. If it's not all there then I'll say something.

    I just get irked when they put the bills, change and receipt in a huge pile that they dump in your hand and then try to help the customer behind you while you're trying to stick it in your wallet. I worked behind a cash register in the summer one year. I always handed the coinage and the bills separately.

    quit paying in cash for things.

    I carry some cash when I'm traveling, and that's about it.

    I'm surprised BR's gas station would accept a $100 bill, much less for a $21 purchase. None of the stations around here will take any bills higher than twentys.

    I use a credit card for everything. Never have cash.

    My card is a Cabela's card and I get Cabela's points. I got a free shotgun and a bunch of hunting stuff with the points. Got to pay it in full every month though as the interest rate is high.

    A lost "art". when i was in undergraduate school, i worked for a full service gas station. the owner was 3 years older than me - early 20's. He only hired college students and we worked revolving shifts so we could go to classes. We had no computers and nearly all the transactions were done on the driveway. this was in the late 70's for you young'uns.

    You pumped the gas, chekced oil, tires, etc - then calculated the bill in your head. About half the customers paid in cash back then, so you had to be right. You rang items up in the register, but it did not give you a total. There was no check on your addition until closing of your shift and you were responsible for loses on your code. when you do this several hours per day, you get pretty good at "cipherin" in your head.

    Oh yeah - we also counted back the bills first, then handed them the change.

    Yea, Dave I do first off they will have your name place time, second you will have to pay taxes on everything, not a bad idea but when you have all of this information you have the power to say who can and can't buy things!

    When I worked for a living (rather than sucking the public tit as I do now), I paid for everything with credit cards - mostly because it simplified expense reports.

    Now, I pay with cash, if I can't run away without paying at all.

    Wish I could run better.

    I understand the purpose of prepaying for gas, but I don't like it. Sometimes, you don't KNOW how much it's going to cost to fill your tank until after it's full.

    The stations will take 100 bills ONLY during the day light hours...not after dark....

    As for credit cards, no way in hell will I use one...

    The manager closed the register and began counting the money, but, of course, the cashier had already had five minutes to hide the bill.

    Anyway we got our money back but there is zero doubt in my mind that this cashier did it on purpose."

    Even if the manager can't prove you were short changed how many complaining customers will it take to wake up the manager?

    I was crushed the other day when the clerk said she could no longer take my wampum. I'll be damed if I'll use them funny pices of paper with pictures of old folks on 'em. Worthless---heh-heh, they ain't foolin' old clouder..
