Shoot alone?
How many of you normally shoot alone? Do you prefer to shoot alone, or is it just hard to get together with shooting buddies? I do some of both, but I tend to do more of my shooting alone because I don't like distractions.

Allmost allways alone.
That is unless I am takeing the kids out shooting.
Comming up I have a lady friend that I may take shooting as well as she is interested in learning too. But I also advised her to take a gun safety course as well as I do not consider myself a great teacher.
I am also planning on my kids (who both have been shooting for a few years now) to take a youth gun safety course.0 -

90% of the time my son is with me, some times my wife, father and friends come to shoot there firearms. But the range I shoot at is a association of 15 clubs so you are hardly ever there alone. And the majority of the members and range officials are very pleasant and friendly people to be around (its one place where everyone has a common interest) 0 -

Alone, none of my friends here are into shooting,I plan on taking my grandson when he visits he's interested but his mom(my daughter) is an anti gun freak 0 -
Mostly go alone ... about 1/2 the time there are other shooters at the range.
It's rare I get any time without having someone around ... an hour or so in the mornings while everyone else is sleeping is about the closest except for when my wife takes Abby and goes to visit her family.0 -
try to go alone mid week when there is no body there. 0 -
For everyone that shoots alone- take one of your kids (or in my case- grandkids) with you. You won't always have them, in a few years, they will be VOTING on whether or not you get to HAVE a gun, make good target pasters for the 100 meter line- and they enjoy it! If you don't HAVE a kid, borrow one. My 11 yr old granddaughter is started shooting with me last spring, and has a ball. Has to use a booster seat for benchrest. Good range manners, and the guys get a kick out of her asking for a "cold" line to paste targets. Now if I can just pry her grubby little fingers off my Mossberg 44..........[:p] 0 -
I shoot alone when I am working at becoming better.
I shoot with friends just to have a good time blowing off steam.

Prefer to shoot alone in the pasture. I will shoot a group and inspect the grouping. Take the spotting scope and look after each shot. Sometimes do a lot of walking back and fort.
If my cousin if there we spray and pray. We'll look for some special junk to shoot up.
I went once with my FIL, BIL, and nephews. Way too much structure. I don't think my nephews enjoyed it much. Safety is #1, but the FIL and BIL had a corncob up their rear.
When alone there is a lot less to watch out for, except for the dam parachuters dropping out of the sky. Airport DZ is next door. Sucks when you are in the middle of 220 acres, alone and you still have to watch out for people floating by.0 -
Mostly alone at the range, although there is occasionally someone else there. I prefer alone, since I can concentrate better, but also enjoy the company while barrels are cooling, checking targets, etc. 0 -

Almost always alone. My old club had a weekly handgun night at the indoor range which was nice because there were others to shoot with and visit with afterwards. It was also nice because you had the chance to try different guns. My new club doesn't have anything like that. Now I shoot alone and am amazed at how often on a Saturday, in a club with 700 members, I have the entire facility that can easily handle up to 100 shooters at a time to myself. Occassionaly I chat with some of the other members when they come to shoot but there is no real social aspect to shooting at this club. 0 -
I take my Dad when he'll go with me. He isn't as die hard of a shooter as I am though and I get him out maybe 8, 10 times a year.
I have a few shooting buddies who go with me now and then, but I'd say at least 75% of the time I'm there alone or at least GO alone- might run into people I know at the range, might not.0 -
Interesting the most seem to shoot alone.
I mostly go with my son just about every weekend. He always out shoots me but It's a really nice time together and we have fun.0 -

I hunt with partners, though we are usually in different parks or canyons.
Usually alone at the range, only way to concentrate and not be there all day, to get a simple sight in or cartridge trial done.0 -
My shooting partner and hunting partner is my wife. Before I met her, I enjoyed hunting alone. After we met, we hunted as a team. We are now old and pudgy, and need to work more at getting to the range or into the mountains. Still fun, but takes more work. 0 -
I like to shoot in competition which means there are a lot of people around. However, I like to practice alone. I prefer not to have someone tell me I am not practicing the way I should, unless that person is better than me. Still, I prefer to practice alone. Bshooter 0 -
I mostly shoot alone. I like to shoot with other people, which is why I started shooting IHMSA, but it is hard to get my friends together for a day at the range. My wife will go with me occasionally, but I like to go early on Saturdays before all the people get there and she likes to sleep in on Saturdays as it is the only day that she can. 0 -
Mostly I shoot alone and I hunt alone, too. Occasionally I shoot with others at the range, but when too many people come along, I can't handle all the noise so I leave when there are more than a few people shooting. I guess the exception would be at a Black Powder shoot ... lots of shooters, but it takes a while to get off that many shots! [;)] 0 -

I like to go prairie doggin' by myself, too, but I don't get a chance to very often.
Just something so very relaxing about being in the middle of the prairie, miles from any other human...0 -

pistol i prefer alone....but rangemaster is somewhere around.
rifle, a rangemaster is always around.
nowhere around here where i can light off guns w/o breaking some law. i miss rural life. funny, i never had it, but miss it.[:(]0 -

Mostly alone, My Wife goes more than any other Friends.
I think I shoot much more than any of my other friends. I reload so that may be a factor.0 -
Mostly alone, but sometimes with some friends.
I'd have to say that I enjoy shooting with friends more than alone, but I like to shoot and cannot always find someone to shoot with.

You are a very lucky man. My wife is a natural-born handgunner, but I'm lucky if I can get her to go to the range once a year. I've never sen anything like it. She goes out, practices presentation drills for a few minutes, puts a mag in the 10-ring and says, "okay, I'm done".
She shoots exceedingly well. She just doesn't enjoy it much.0
