Possible Moral Dillemma
O.k. heres the scoop, I live in an apt building that shares common halls until you get to your own apt. Lately there has been a lot of weed smoking in the halls that has been seeping into my apt through the door surround. I guess I wouldn't care but it makes the future misses very ill. Now if it was done in the persons own apt I could care less, but since it's done in this common hallway I'm wondering what I should do about it. Today I just went and opened the windows in the hall and since it's Michigan and winter that doesn't do to well. The complex says they can't do anything about it, so should I go to their door personally and ask them to stop smoking their poope in the halls or should I just call the cops and be done with it. I really don't want to call them but if it would make the lady batter than my life in turn will be much better. Advise anyone?

Call the cops. Smoking marijuana is illegal. Do you really want to live in the same building as people who have no problem breaking the law and disrespecting their neighbors all at the same time? I know I sure wouldn't. 0 -

kinda had same thing in my apt building when going to school....drug dealer moved in was swarming with highschool kids...they smoked up the whole building with weed smoke....dialed up the cops they came busted a drug dealer....no problem. 0 -
OBVIOUSLY, his olds won't let the assbag do it in her living space either.No reason for you and your olds to put-up with it either. Either play it cool, and catch the perp, or call the law, and watch it keep-on happening...If you could catch the dude, and explain the sitch. to him. He may take it to the street.

Thats kinda what I was thinking too fish, it's never really bothered me but if it's bothering the wifey, I would take him to the street to show him if necessary. I just don't want to be "that guy" calling the cops right away. 0 -

My first instinct, if you know who it is, is to tell him yourself to cut it out.
On second thought, just remember that if you DO say something to him you'll be the first person that comes to mind if the cops are called....regardless if you called them or not.
My advice would be to leave an unsigned note taped to his door or in his mailbox. If he don't get the hint....well, at least you tried0 -
I wouldn't be a weak kneed snitchin' sister and call the cops. I would simply go door to door saying we don't need cops up here hassling us so how about refraining from dope smoking in the hall. No need to go into the real reason why and you keep friendly neighbors*.
*Neighbors have keys and knives, you have paint jobs and tubeless tires.0 -

See if you can find the person doing it. Not sure you would get much of a response from LE if you just called to report "pot smoke". The more info and detail you have for them the better.

Say he calls the cops, and the guy ends up doing a year in jail, youve wasted between 28-40 grand for something harmless. Talk to him first, let him know your situation, and most likely, hell understand and take it elsewhere.

With housing crashing save 30 bucks and buy a foreclosed house. No neighbors smokin' weed.
Find a local speed trap cop. Pull up and have a chat with him. Ask who he would call on the force that gets a woodie over bustin' druggies. A nice POLITE call to the drug hater, being calm and asking for help will go a long way to getting them talked to by the local PD.0 -

...Welcome WWII! Your way more mellow than I am...and no offense was intended; I just could not help my smart azz self. I just wouldn't put up with that chit if I lived in an apt., and would have been out in the hall confronting the dopeheads the first time it happened.
...Go tell them you are not going to put up with that crap, you live there too! Sometimes you need to stand up for yourself no matter the consequences, and soon it sounds like you will be standing up for two; might as well start now.

Good man, you never know whats going with people until you talk to them. I guess other people are just scared to try and deal with a problem themselves first. Everyone talks about less government, theyre taking over day by day, and you involve them in affairs that could be solved by a simple phone call or note left on a door.0 -

It's cool Colt, I actually thought that was very funny as I could see myself saying the same thing. Like I said I'll just have to have a talk with them. Shouldn't be too difficult from what I have seen they are just young white suburbanite kids who think that they grew up in Compton (punks) so I'm sure with my larger stature they will more than likely listen.0 -

With you on this one 100%. Talk to the person and see if it could quite possibly prescription and maybe ask him to refrain until in his apartment. I know there are a lot of fundamentalists on here but I don't think most people in here would want to go to jail for using your own prescribed medicine.0 -

They have a nice little bar there, Mc Nastys not a bad burger if I remember. Also if you are down this way come Sunday there is a Antique arms show in Novi, usually a lot of good finds there, pricey though. 0
