If you had you choice what would you have AK or AR and what model

With an AK you will spend more money on ammo.
With the AR more money on bolt on goodies , optics, BUIS, grips, stocks, mag pulls, bipods,brakes, flashlights, blah, blah blah. Then you'll start looking at different uppers. barrel lengths, calibers. It's and ugly addiction.
For simplicity in design and just take it out n' go shooting down at the pit I love the AK.
Sure you can add on some optics on a AK but you not going to spend a 700 on optics for it as it's never going to give you that accuracy that merits mid or high end optics.
The AR your going to slap on glass or a dot of some dot fairly quick.
But you will end up getting both!0 -
i recently had this same question myself, and i decided that as soon as my dealer gets his ffl. (he had to renew it 7 months ago and is still waiting for the A.T.F to follow through.) i am going to the shop and dropping the cash for BOTH! 0 -

Disagree with most all of that
7.62x39 is cheaper than .223 everywhere I buy ammo.
I've got all the bolt on goodies for my AK-Optics, M4 stock, quad rail front, flashlight, and ergo grip. I have not spent $700 on optics yet, but I'll have right at it once I get my x3 FTS to accompany my eotech 552.
My AK is plenty accurate enough to spend the money on high end mid range optics.0 -

I started with an AK, theyre fun as hell to shoot, but all i did was throw lead down range at 50 yards and eat the center out of the target. Now i want to shoot for accuracy, and get MOA groups, so im going with 2 AR's. Start with either, end up with both! 0 -

The AK is the Peasant's AR.
The AK in a .223 is much more accurate than the 7.62, but the sights are not that great. I see someone is now making a peep hole sight.
THe AR is much easier to install a scope.0 -
