What did you want to be when you were a kid?

Funny how life turns out. I was born in 60. Played cowboys & native-americans, baseball, cops & robbers, army, rode bikes. Would go out in the morning and not come home until dinner. We had a great neighborhood in Lakewood OH. Very ethnic and everybody looked out for each others' kids. No scumbags around then.

I wanted to be a private detective more than anything. I dreamed of solving cases, shooting it out with "bad guys" and getting the girl.
I met a private detective and he said he spends most of his time catching cheating/stealing employees for companies, filming cheating spouses, and looking for runaways. Not as glamorous as I thought.

How about you folks?????

    At various times I wanted to be a game warden, a veterinarian, a zookeeper. Decided doing something I liked for a career might mean I would grow to dislike it, since so many I knew disliked their jobs, so I carried majors in Psych, Soc, and Anthro, with minors in communication and field biology. Then I got a job as a zookeeper.

    My son is jealous. He enjoys the zoo. ASlways has...and always will. He is 19!

    Among all my desirable things to be when I was a child my favorite was Doctor. Sometimes I could get the neighbor girl alone in the tent or play house and practice my goals.

    I wanted to be a nun.
    No, seriously.
    Then the first female professional hockey player.
    Then I thought about my love of science, and I considered working in a lab with my microscope, curing cancer and so forth, but my math grades were way too poor.
    I think I spent most of my life not knowing what I wanted to be, but I knew it would be something to do with working with children. Possibly teaching. I took a couple of semesters in college, then left school to start my family.
    Thinking about possibly going back to get my degree in early childhood education. More and more school districts are considering going over to universal pre-K, so the job field should be opening up soon.

    I always wanted to be a salesman when I grew up. Thats what my maternal grandfather did. I always appreciated the excitement of the sale when ever he would talk about it. I've been selling for 21 years now and know of nothing else quite as exciting or interesting as the science of selling.

    A garbage man. Honest to God. I thought they had the neatest job in the world, getting to ride around on the back of a big old truck all day. Didn't take me long to realize that it's not all it was cut out to be!

    That reminds me, there was a local garbage man....Who's truck carried the motto... "Satisfaction Guaranteed...Or Double Your Trash Back"

    From the time I was old enough to disassemble, reassemble, tune, and sometimes blow up my parents radios I wanted to be an engineer, so that's what I became; with an 8 year and 9 month stint in the Navy between college and the Defense Electronics Industry.

    Our daughter, on the other hand, didn't decide what she wanted to do professionally until her third year in college; drove me crazy![:D]

    I wanted to be a jet-engine Mech. Like my daddy.Moved to Florida after school and started installing sprinkler sys. Still servicing them to this day.
    Thinking about opening a small Vaccume cleaner/Dildo repair shop..[:D]

    I grew up wanting to be in the military. My dad's health began to fail and my mom is legally blind, so at 18 I couldn't bear to leave them. I still wish I could have given a couple of years to my country. I wasted those years, anyway.

    Mountainman, fur hunter. Went on a long "period" horse trip in the late 70's, still don't know if I've grown out of it.
