Are these giveaways bogus or genuine?

I have read several times how someone is going to give something to someone because of his/her post total, birthday, or whatever. Does this really happen? The well-known so-called giveaways always list the name of the winner but how does anyone know the winner is an actual person or maybe the same person doing the giveaway? The same question applies to drawings that other people buy tickets for. It would be so easy for someone to pull this off and no one would ever be the wiser.

    I can assure you that they are real.

    I have won many items and given many items (includeing guns).

    take a look at all the people thanking the others for the give a way. I have won a couple and always have receved the item.

    I have given a few things away; one was a 6X24 scope.

    I would suspect the guy using the scope thinks the give-away was real.

    The generosity of the folks on GB is all too real...I have been the recipient of a great deal of it...I've hosted a few giveaways too.

    I assure you they are indeed real, most of the members here are outstanding people who are kind enough to pass items they dont use on to their fellow GB members.

    I've never won anything here but I only enter the giveaway if I need/can use the item. That way the ones that do need/can use the item have a better chance.

    I just had my first giveaway here and it was very real. The 2 winners kissgoodnight and youngsparkey both claimed their prizes and I just mailed them this morning at 9am.

    Big800 won my 300 WM brass giveaway. If I wasn't such a slacker I would have mailed it last week. It is sitting on my desk now and I'm taking it to UPS at lunch.

    I have received items from giveaways and one of the items was a Rifle so YES they are genuine people with giveaways (Thanks again GRD) I have had a lot of fun letting the kids shoot the 91/30 at the range.

    I have also sent out everything I have every gave away.

    Tell you what...with your paranoia about the GB giveaways I wouldn't join them, that way the non paranoid peopls odds are higher.[;)]

    I have always got what was in the giveaway when I was the winner here on GB I have on the other hand been the winner on another forum for a firearm for my nephew and I sent my FFL and never got the firearm so I bought him one as I had told him he was getting it and this guy is well repected and still has giveaways. For the most part everyone is on the up and up. That is of course unless they get drunk and post a giveaway LOL.

    As yourself, if what you say is true. Why? Why would someone start not one, but two accounts, run post counts up to the thousands, in order to have a fake give away.

    I know some of the stuff that is given away. Would take a very generous person to do such a thing. But hey this is Gunbroker. This site has some of the very best people you will ever know.

    Have given away some Greenlandic crafts in stone and reindeer bone... as well as a few other stuff...


    Some people just don't like the rules that are set up - but that's entirely between that guy and the one who gives something away.

    If you want to give something away - it's your call to set some rules and enforce them as you see fit.

    LJWrench is a man of his word. I posted last week that I received the XD Holster from his giveaway.

    BTW, there's a giveaway out there that dropped back a few pages that you might look into. I promised a drawing tonight and there aren't too many replies. Of course if you're already in it, you might not want to bring attention to it as you have a better chance of winning the fewer entries there are.

    I've won two knives and given away one. Will give away another at 2500 posts. Lots of people have stuff stuck away in drawers that they realise they don't want/need. It's a good way to clear out your stuff. It's s a win/win situation.
    P.S. It's good etiquette not to enter if you don't thing you could use it if you win it. For instance, I'll probably never own a 300 magnum, so I didn't enter a giveaway for some 300 mag. ammo)

    Dont know how many in here have belt buckles and other stuff gun related we have given away. They cant be real as I got some stuff in the mail that other members have sent me in here, musta been dreamin..

    Lets see,, what is your favorite gun, maybe I have a manufacturers patch I might give ya..

    There is noting to stop someone from having two names (accounts) posting a giveaway, and then giving it to himself. Neither name has to have 1,000s of posts. Just a few posts for both names will do. Matter of fact, I think it HAS been done before.

    There have been times when the person hosting the giveaway, has NOT sent the item(s) promised, for whatever reason. With as many people as there are that post here, and human nature being what it is, your bound to get some of those types.

    But for the MOST part, the giveaways are real. For most all the guns that I have given away, there have been pictures posted of the kids holding them, with BIG SMILES on their faces. I know for a fact, that the gun that I won, reached the final owner, although no pictures were posted. (thanks juju, miss ya)
