DO U LIKE STEAK?....NO WE EAT VENISON
Ok so here is the thing, you are 50 now and not poor anymore. You hunted for your meals in the 70s and early 80s cause you had no lute. You finally understood that VENISON really sucks. I mean its meat and all but cmon. CMON u got the buddy or urself that feeds the family with venison because you or they think it just yummy. I have over 30 deer under my belt and i ate maybe 1. Summer sausage...yeah its ok. But a 16 oz usda choice bone in ribeye i will take all day long... It kills me when i hear a grown man say "all we eat is venison...lol

I dont care for steak....I love venison IF it is done right...I cant stand the "beef tasting venison"....or venison that is done so you dont know what the hell you are eating....

Eating venison has always been a choice at my house. We prefer venison...If I have a choice of my last meal on earth, it will be venison chops. 0 -
I like deer jerky, deer 'summer sausage', deer BBQ, and italian venison. Venison steak, yeah, it sucks compared to beef. 0 -
We eat venison by choice. Hardly ever buy beef. As a matter of fact, my daughter will not eat a beef burger, and doesn't like beef steak. 80% of all the meat she has ever eaten is venison. We love it, and use it for everything. To me, a big old steak cut off the ham of a deer, about 3/4 inch thick thrown on the grill, or a tenderloin grilled whole, is a little bit of heaven on earth! And much better for you than beef. I'm like BR...I want venison to taste like venison, not have the flavor covered up with marinades and lots of spices. 0 -
The only red meat we eat in our house is venison.
There are many reasons. One, it is healthier for us (less fat, no hormones or additives). Two, it tastes just as good as beef. Three, instead of going to a grocery store full of illegals, morons and screaming children, I get to go to the quiet woods and relax to get my meat. Four, I know exactly what cleanliness standards are used when packaging my meat, unlike the store.
As for price, if you think that beef is more expensive than venison, you are crazy.0 -
I like both. I don't get much venison so it is more "special" than regular beef. I think I prefer my venison ground and beef in steak form though. 0 -

What? I eat venison until I run out. Not because I can't afford beef but because I like venison. If I didn't eat it I wouldn't kill it!

I'm full grown, and I like deer meat. Eat about 7 a year, maybe a little antelope, elk, beef, pork, you know, MEAT!

I eat both. Can't really say I like one better than the other. They are different, but not one better than the other in my opinion.
When I was in New Zealand venison was a lot cheaper than beef in restaurants. A venison steak would cost about a third what the same beef would cost. At the same time in the States, venison, if you could even find it in restaurants and stores, cost about three times as much as beef.
I guess it's just a matter of location and personal taste. My wife cooks it, but she won't eat it. But then, she won't eat a fish if she "saw it's eyes" before it's cooked. [:D]0 -

Hey guys, I love the taste of venison. And I specially love it grilled. But I have never been able to just saw off a piece and throw it on the grill and come up with anything I could chew. What are your secrets for making grilled venison chewable. By the way, I like mine rare. 0 -

I have had some rancid venison from poor field care and people think that is what all venison tastes like.
I skin my animals within an hour of killing so the meat cools as fast as possible.
I have seen hunters kill an animal and then drive around with the deer in the back of their pickup for 3 days in the sun and then complain that venison tastes bad.
If ranchers and butchers treated beef like some people treat their game animals no one would want to eat beef either.0 -

I prefer hamburger most of the time over steak...very easy to make so many different thing with hamburger.
an that said I'll eat beef way before deer.....but eat dear meat but prefer antelope over deer meat.[}:)]
corn fed deer are way better than ones that don't get corn...shot a deer in the Rocky mountains once, that was so nasty i couldn't eat it...sage brush and pine needles was all that deer ever ate.[xx(]0 -
I love venison, it's %100 organic and I shoot it myself. Like someone above said you have to know what to do after the kill. It's great as just meat or any way you like to fix it. I like it smoked, grilled, jerky, all types of sausage, burger, chili, spagetti, tacos, soup, stew. The way I look at it is I enjoy hunting and I love to eat meat so since the deer are plentiful why not fill up the freezer? You have over 30 deer under your belt. What do you do, hunt just two days a year or are you just a bad shot? Learn how to shoot first, then learn about what to do after you finally hit what you are aiming at, and then learn how to cook. Just got done backstraps broiled in the electric oven. Set broil temp to 400 and set them done a rack. Rubbed butter and a lil' garlic season-all .Tender juicey.
Can't get bye the price of beef sometimes, wife and I eat ground turkey burgers when out of deer and the kids(11,9) eat turkey breasts or cutlets.
Gotta just get the cooking down to what you prefer for deer.
Got 3 does and a 4 point opening day gun here in Maryland, all I need for a year.
Deer just has a wild flavor you crave or don't.
Now, other hand a good friend got us a huge gift box of Omaha steaks for Christmas/Chanukah. I don't think I could pick steaks of that quality out in the store.
Only eat deer ? ?... No ,just perfer to hunt deer or be picky about what price I pay for beef.0 -
Backstrap gets cooked night of the kill ( this year lots of extra, big deer). Sauteed in butter, garlic and mushrooms.

Worked in a feedlot checking pens for several years and seen how and what they fed them. Steroids and other stuff for quick and maxium growth. I won't eat beef from the stores only home grown. Just don't taste as good in my opinion. I believe any wild game is better than store bought.....Bull 0 -

$100-$400 for clothes and boots
Add liscense, ammo, gasoline, gagets, preparation of meat, etc.
Yep, steak is much cheaper than venison.
I have a garden, too. Homegrown vegatables are cheaper than store-bought. That's right.
