Need advice on where to go Hog Hunting

Alright guys,..I'm in MD and have finally gotten some guys to cowboy up and say they will go hog huntin with me. I'm looking for advice and/or recommendation for an outfitter or even private land that we can hunt somewhere in the NC/SC/GA/FL/TN etc etc are.

We would like to stalk or stand hunt without feeders,..just a plain fair chase hunt with a good chance at a nice trophy.

    It's done in Hawaii the same as in the southern US. You turn a pack of dogs loose in good hog country, then just listen until they corner one and get it down. By the time you make it to them the hog is worn completely out and lying flat on the ground-usually with no ears left and several chunks bitten away by the dogs. At this point he's totally defenseless against you. Now you just stroll up, straddle the pig's midsection and stick it. In truth the hardest part is getting the dogs to stop attacking. The "not for the faint of heart" part actually comes from standing back calmly watching a pack of dogs tearing into another animal to the point it just lies down and stops defending.

    Around here they're hunted by youngsters for pocket money. They use dogs, horses and a rope, but normally don't even carry along a gun. They'll let the dogs corner one, but don't give them time to tear it up. They then rope the pig, approach on foot, grab him by the back legs and just lift them up. Once you get those back legs off the ground he's manageable.

    All that's left to do now is tape the snout shut, tie the legs together, drag him to a trailer and haul him out. They then feed it out on grain for a week or two to put on more weight (they're pretty lean in the wild) and sell him to a slaughter house. I don't know the current rate, but it's generally around 30 cents per pound on the hoof.

    Nope, TXS, on Kauai, they just run through the swamps barefoot, and when they catch up with the feral pig, they jump it and knife it. No Dogs. No Guns. And damn little clothes. I watched it. Durn lil Island Girl with a long knife. Fun to watch. Better'n mud wrestling, and there's cold beer and Kahlua Pork at the end of the evening. Jus Don't piss off the lil girl with the long knife!!
