Need advice on where to go Hog Hunting
Alright guys,..I'm in MD and have finally gotten some guys to cowboy up and say they will go hog huntin with me. I'm looking for advice and/or recommendation for an outfitter or even private land that we can hunt somewhere in the NC/SC/GA/FL/TN etc etc are.
We would like to stalk or stand hunt without feeders,..just a plain fair chase hunt with a good chance at a nice trophy.

Justin, I'm with you, I've always wanted to go hog hunting, but it would have to be fair chase, and not on a preserve!! 0 -
I have not hunted yet with this guy but I do believe him to be the real deal.
I was planning a hunt down there last year but had to cancel at the last minute. I called up and talked to the guy for about 15 minutes. He put me on the phone with one of the clients there who had just nailed a 200 pound hog after a one hour hunt.
Also on another forum I talked with a guy who had hunted with Ron and he was pleased.
This is the epitome of fair chase, hounds chase the hogs down and you follow the hounds and shoot the hogs at close range.
In fact you don't even have to bring a gun, just bring a box of shotgun slugs and you can use one of their guns as you will be shooting at a range of 20 feet or so.

I know a custom knifemaker in Bristol, TN. that puts on "Hawg Hunts"
where you use a knife to take the hog. Heck of a nice guy, and a
hoot to be with. I can imagine his hunts would be a blast.

Greenlakes is 30 miles north east of Tifton Ga. you have 2500 acres to hunt however you want to very nice guy that runs it0 -
I know a Hawaiian Girl who runs 'em down barefoot, and takes them with a knife.....you'll have to go to the Island of Kauai to do it.
She runs a Kayak Rental out of Nawiliwili Harbor.0 -
was reading about hog hunting today! Read a nice story and saw some pics of an 11 year old who took a 100 pounder with a SOG knife. If any here hunts hog in Central Florida, i would be more than willing to go along, and of course cover some of the costs. And heck, ill even buy the beer after the hunt! 0 -

if you want the most pure, visciral, primal hog hunting experience then go to hawaii. they chase on foot and then kill with their bare hands and a big knife. its not for the weak of heart or weak of muscle. i cant post some videos if you want, they are graphic though. 0 -

Seriously, I've thought it might be "fun" to try and hunt one with one of those Yugo SKS' with the folding bayonet, but I'm not sure if you use the gun as the main weapon (with the bayonet as backup) or vice-versa!0 -
Hogs are fun![:D] If you can't find a place and want premium huntining spots. Check out the winery's/vineyards/prime property owners etc that have sustained damage by hogs. (I call these "Happy Permits") You might need to jump thou some hoops, but it's worth it.
The Local Fish and Game office will have a list of trouble spots. Keep the hunting crew tight on the rules, and you will get some of the best hunting.

I am up in the North Carolina mountains. I listen late at night to a hunting show on am 750 radio out of Atlanta called O'neals Outdoors.
A guy called in, he is in a hunting club in Washington County Georgia.
He said that they had so many hogs that they had hardly any turkeys left, although five years ago they had lots of turkeys. They still had lots of deer, but they wanted more turkeys.
He said that they shot as many hogs as they could, but they just could not keep up.
Boy I would like to go down there for about 3 months and help them out.

California. I lived in Monterey County twenty years ago, and back then you could hunt Russian Boar any day of the year, with the limit one in possession. They had been turned out in the 1920s, and bred with feral domestic varieties, with interesting results. They are probably all over the state now. Back then, local deer herds were not getting enough hunting pressure because everyone was after hogs. The meat is delicious. I am sure the regs have changed since then, but I would expect the pigs are even more numerous. 0 -

Michigan is asking hunters to kill every hog they see, no limit.
You need a license to be hunting deer or small game or? , hogs are just a bonus.
DNR claims hogs are in almost every county in the state.They want them gone.

Main reason why I'm recommended Greenlakes hunting I've hunted most of the other links for Florida most was like shooting livestock0 -
If you know someone with a little land in Texas, it's great hog hunting just about anywhere in the eastern half of the state and they are actually good to have butchered and make sausage out of. Good chances of getting a hog just about anywhere in east Texas. 0 -
Been hunting hogs on the King Ranch 2 times and had a blast every time.Shot some and used a large knife on some,they got big ones in Texas. Went hunting for them on the base at Fort Riley ( Kansas ) years ago but didnt have much luck as they were trapping and even shooting them from choppers to get rid of them,they never got rid of them all hogs are smart and figure out whats going on real fast. 0 -
