kristov - Just keep laying the lash on those guys you have chained to the oars. If I'm an investor, I want to see profit in return for the capital I invest in your enterprise. I don't mind if you throw them an extra slice of bread on Stalin's birthday (given their communist tendencies), but if I can't make money on my investment, I'm not gonna take any risk by putting capital into your venture.
If they want the big bucks, let them build their own boat.

I have no problem with CEOs and upper ranks making significantly more than single contributors, but here is where I draw the line:
Tom Boron, the idiot CEO installed by PG&E corporation into the National Energy Group, single handedly took an INCREDIBLY profitable company which had NEVER had an unprofitable year since its inception, and in less than 3 years, ran it OUT of business (bankrupt) by making wrong decision after wrong decision even after being advised not to make many of them. What was his reward for this? A 7 figure severance package including $38,000/month for the rest of his life.

Fundamentally you are correct about investment and risk. And I am not a communist. What you earn is for you to determine, and is only your business. But, Kristov, your attitude towards your employees is very clear. Even though you attempted to mask it with the ever popular "just joking". Any true leader of men knows that this type of attitude is projected clearly to his employees. Any leader also knows that this is counterproductive and decreases profits.
Years ago I remember a boss I had bitching me out and getting all together to close. He said to me "can you even see what I'm saying to you?" To which I replied "all I can see is one man instigating a fist fight with another man." He then understood that the situation wasn't about a job, it was about being respected. Any strong and confident man will give respect and in return will demand it. Strong, confident men naturally make the best and most productive employees. Only you can determine how you relate to others, but so long as you embrace your present mentality, I hope that your partners have the wisdom to keep you far away from the slaves.0 -

The divergance of thought here, evidenced by the polarization in this thread is extrordinary.
Members here spend days and hours posting chest pounding rants about thier independence and strength then feed like nibbling goldfish on someone who actually "walks the walk". Such hypocrisy is dissappointing.

I work for Kohler company, a privately owned buisness. Herb Kohler works 365 days a year, every year. I work four days on, four days off. I like my four days off and would not trade places with him for anything. 0 -

I was the only one who actually posted my salary in comparison to my CEO's.
Some people said that I need an education.
Some people said all CEO's are bad people.
Some people indicated those of us who are not currently business owners or CEO's are lazy.
Some people indicated that anyone who doesn't "work for a living" is lazy.
From reading this I might say that being a CEO or a business owner doesn't automatically mean you are an effective leader.0 -

While I see nothing wrong with someone bettering THEMSELVES, when you do it at a cost of other prople, thats not right. Even if your joking Kistov, belitting your people is wrong. Wanna guess what I would do to my boss if he called me slave? I can take a joke. To hear the same thing more than ONCE, I won't take as a joke, I will take it as belittling me. Better count your lucky stars I am not one of your employees.

I assume that I was in fact drinking and doping while you were working long hours. Thats what I did in those days. I played in several bar bands on the weekends and the rest of time I hung out and drank and did drugs. Not a good life, in fact it sucked.
Today I am an investment consultant in training. I believe that I will enjoy my new career. I also believe that it will be quite lucrative. But you'll have to take my word for it, cuz I won't be posting my income here like you.[:D]
Now I didn't say that you were an SOB. I addressed your boasting, arrogance and general contempt for your employees. And yes I was brutally honest with you. And I did hint at certain self esteem issues that someone like you, a braggart, might typically be having.

I will say that at Christmas time when I handed each of my serfs (joke) their bonus along with the $100 VISA gift card, a suggestion from GB members which proved VERY popular, purchased with money which came from my own pocket (no joke), not one of them spit on it and shoved it back at me.
Driving a Mercedes, in your opinion, is a sign of success. In Memphis, I see many driving MB's with a "mouth full of bling and gold grills". Didn't realize, until now, how successful they are.

I have to admit, I took some umbrage when the Executive Director of the agency I work for circulated a memo last year requesting that employees that have "luxury priced" automobiles please do not make visits to homes or do any sort of other company visits driving such cars, basically so that out clients wouldn't think we were ripping the off, while he drives to work in either his Beemer, his Mercedes, or his Porche. 0 -
You know, I'm making a guess here, but I have a feeling Kristov would be a fine boss to work for. If you can't pick up the tongue firmly in his cheek, then you failed Reading Comprehension 101. He owns a small firm that does technical work, and he employs smart, very well-educated people. He's smart enough to know that such people can make him a lot of money and can walk out at lunch and have a new job by closing time. Accordingly, he pays them a good wage and trys to keep them happy. And because he's a good boss and pays well, they work hard to make sure they're not replaced.
When I was young and had no skills and could be replaced at the drop of a hat, I got treated like crap and paid pennies. Once I got a desireable degree, built a resume and a solid reputation, I got treated much better and paid a lot more. My boss knows that I could quit and have a new job the next day. Accordingly, she treats me well.
The only people bitching are those who decided to take the easy way out and never work to better themselves. Me, I like that the people at the top get paid a lot of money. I plan on climbing the ladder and getting one of those jobs some day. And when I retire at 55, I'm sending a resume to Kristov to start my second career.0 -
