out of wood from bird houses to people houses. How about furniture? Guess I should say as a hobby or a living.

I used to. I just quit my job as a construction coordinator for Habitat for Humanity. Built somewhere in the neighborhood of 250 houses in the last 11 years. 0 -
nope don't do so well with wood.....but steel yes...not bird houses and such....made a rock digger several years ago that attaches to a big tractor... can pull rocks out of the ground from the size of a basketball to as big as tractor cabs 0 -
I have a knack for picking out the MOST expensive things that other people have built. I wish I could build anything....anything at all....but no....I cannot. 0 -

I guess you could say I'm a building geek, if any of my friend, neighbors, or family need somethin, instead of buying it I build it usally cost 2 or 3 times what it would cost to buy but I just love putting things together. Wood or metal it doesn't matter I'll swear sometimes I'll tackle anything. And now that I'm offically retired (or retarded) my next project id to make a gun repair station in a bedroom, wall to wall benches, I'm trying to put it on paper before I start so it will be awhile yet. 0 -

Have built Kites, Amplifiers, Airplanes, Telescopes, TVs, and "kit" Cars...was ready to build a Dome Home, until I found this house. 0 -
I've built a few aquarium stands and tv stands.
last time I built a birdhouse my12th grade science teacher gave me a F because he claimed I bought it from the store. I did use plans, but that was allowed. It was a "Wren Hanger" that looked just like a WWII bomber hanger.0 -
I can build many things for 3 to 4 times their purchase cost in most cases in less than a year and with only moderate help from true craftsman. I admire those of you who have the build it gene. 0 -
of I forgot to ad, that I volunteered, renovating homes (mostly demolition) for the Green Bay Historical Society when I was in High School. 0 -
Love to play with wood,( build things ) The last thing was a display case for my Dads flag, medals,pictures and a couple of empty 06 cases from his funeral.Had to rebuild it 3 times as it had to be just right,it is now.It only took a few mounths,because it took awhile to cut the log (Pine log from Mom & Dads home of 60 years)planeing,sanding,staining,cutting,edgeing,ect.and then doing it over till its just right.Its a good feeling to build something you can be proud of for someone you are very proud of. 0 -
I haven't for a year or so.
Mainly little things. Mywife wanted a junior-sized cabinet to go with our daughter's play kitchen. That was fun.
I've three sheets of very heavy panelling some friends took out of their den. That'll make some cool projects.0 -

Several of the guns you see here were photographed after being used pretty hard -- two are my own hunting rifles. When I decided I needed to have some pictures of my work, I had to collect stuff I'd built for other people -- who hadn't been considerate enough to keep the guns in "as new" condition [:D].

I also started with aquarium stands like Mrseatle. I like to mix wood and metal or just wood. I've built cannons, furniture, knife handles, firearm stocks/grips. I'm a structural welder/foreman at a refinery and we are always challenged with one design or another. I think the most fun is building something that is 100+ tons and then flying it through the air and have it actually fit what it is supposed to[:D] 0 -
I have built a few things. A couple of houses, a couple of commerical buildings. Then made a few cabinets, some furnture. Then started making some spearfishing guns, reels, stempoints, breakaway floats. Then after that made some underwater lights, an underwater strobe, a couple of housings for still and movie cameras.
Nothing serious, just something to do in my spare time.0 -

I like steel. the issue with wood is that if i cut it wrong i can't weld it back together and recut. 0 -
Wood and metal. I say metal cause steel in is singular. Aluminun,Stainless Steel are my 2 favorites.
Wood yes used to build custom homes,decks,remodeling ect for a living. The good news is I have a high deductable on my home cause I wount have to hire someone for repairs. Hence more $$$ for ammo.
Now I work as a mechanical person sometimes in a machine shop when required to get the job done. Basically metals fabrication amoung other things.
My next toy project is a gun rack out of teak wood or black walnut and a display stand for my smith 686. Also for a place to set it while cleaning it.0 -
Am building my third home-built aircraft. I love to fly but store boughts are too high to buy and maintain. Am 75 yrs. old and still above ground and upright. [:D] 0 -
