Disrespectful?
The scenario.
Private sale of a "used" firearm, in a city unfamiliar to buyer.
Seller suggests meeting (in the parking lot) at a place that sells guns.
(Big chain store, like....sportsman warehouse [;)])
Buyer does not know where that is at, and suggests meeting (in the parking lot) at a little privately owned gun shop, that he is familiar with. So that after the gun deal he can go into little shop and spend some money. Holster, mags, etc. for his new "used" gun.
Seller says meeting there is "disrespectful" to the little shop owner.
Is it?

No, he had no intention of buying the gun from the shop, and if he didnt buy the gun, he wouldnt be in there buying mags, ammo, or a holster. 0 -

I deal and purchase from about 7 different local privately owned gunshops. I am always trading with and buying from all of them, usually several in the same day. Is this disrespectful? My opinion of your situation pickenup is just business. From the way you described your situation it is not like the buyer was trying to intentionally insult the gunshop owner. That would be disrespectful! 0 -

if you conduct bussiness on their property without permission it is disrespectful. also it tends to piss the owner off.(small dealer) i've done it once without thinking about dealers feelings. he let me know. 0 -

Private 'deals' between individuals is how the people of this nation traded guns for hundreds of years. Set up a system controlled and run by the Beast..and in 40 years, suddenly a man is a criminal for engaging in a Constitutional activity.

My tomato plants are overfull with fruit. I am going to give some to my uncle who lives 20 miles away. He is headed out this morning to do some errands and I need to stop and pick up some milk and bread. We decide to meet in the grocery store parking lot about half way between our two homes. I meet him there and give him about 5 nice plump tomatoes.
Am I disrespecting the grocery store?0 -

I see the problem a little differently. I think the issue is conducting business of the kind conducted by the owner of the property. Particularly when there are controls on the transactions he makes (4473), not being observed (even if legal) by the parking lot deal.

Yes. I agree with He Dog. The premises of a Gun Dealer is always suspect, and it may be under watch. The Gun Shop could be investigated for strawbuying or transacting off license. Why put him thru that?
I do think that anytime you meet a stranger for a gun trans, there is risk of something going bad. I have looked at a nice collector rifle once at an Idaho interstate Home Depot lot, and I sold a gun once at a place away from my home as I didn't want them men seeing my place.0 -
My point was that it is an incidental transaction. The seller or buyer should not use the store's lot regularly. However, if they want to meet there for a one off transaction I don't see that as disrespectful to the store owner.
As a side note I agree with meeting at a neutral location instead of bringing strangers home. I have sold some household items through craigslist and I always try to meet them somewhere-else than my home.0 -

I see no problem with it.
The deal is going to take place regardless of where they decide to meet.
The buyer is going to spend money somewhere for all of the goodies that he wants for the gun. So why not support the small local owned guy?0 -
What are the local and Federal laws regarding firearm transactions on gun shop property ??
They may be forbidden without an FFL and 4473.
