OK Computer Experts...and no this does not...

After searching my computer I've been able to locate my missing mail files but I cannot get them back into Outlook Express...nor can I open them. I c&p'ed them to a file in "MY Documents" and I've tried every possible way I can think of to import them back into OE with no luck whatsoever. Anyone have any ideas???

if you have outlook you should also have excel, if you save them to excel you can import them 0 -

How do I save them to Excel??? Can I copy and paste the whole thing from My Documents right to Excel??? ...also, will this work with Outlook Express...and not the regular Outlook? Thanks!
One more question...they were originally created by Outlook Express, so is importing them to Excel really going to help anything...as you can tell, I'm one of those computer idiots.0 -
go to outlook, click "file" , "import file" and select what you want..
if you have any problems, mail them to yourself as an attachment0 -

yes c&p them to excel, then go to file/import/export it will bring up a window for you to choose excel, and yes this is for outlook express in microsoft office, try it on one file before you do them all, and to make sure you can find the path

OK...Excel 2003 does not have an import tab under the File tab and it will not allow me to paste them to a new document.?.? 0 -

They are all .bak files0 -
email the complete folder to yourself 0 -
open excel, C&P it to excel, save it as a word document in excel, close it, open oe, then import it, oe will give you options of the only allowable files you can import, i don't think bak is acceptable 0 -

I have it saved in another folder and they are .dbx files and .bak files. For some reason Excel will not let me paste to the open document when you open up the program.0 -
Down load Mozilla (its free) open it and set it as your default email, then have at it. Had a similar problem a while ago and thats how I did it. 0 -

sounds like your stuck emailing them, then organize your folders, you can move them around0 -

ok - stop listening to the crack-heads [:D]. What is the extension of the files that you found and what is the size of the file(s)? Are they .pst files? There is no importing them into Outlook, you just do a file | open and open them. Microsoft has a PST file repair tool that you need to use if they are in fact PST files and do not work. Try to open them first though. 0 -

They are .dbx and .bak files (seems like duplicates within the same folder). They are very large and this might be why I cannot email them. The entire folder is 1.2 GB.
You know something else that's funny. I saved the location of where I found them in an email in my Drafts file and that has now disappeared too!0 -
That is not the right extension for Outlook email. What makes you think those are email files? You could do a file | open in Excel and attemp to open that .dbx file, if it opens, at least you can see what it is. If they are Outlook files then a file | open in Outlook should open them. 0 -

I found these by doing a search for *.pst files like you suggested before...I C&P'ed the files to My Documents to have a back up of them...and this is how they C&p'ed. They are tiled "Drafts", "Deleted", "Junk Email", etc etc.
I take that back...I found them by searching for .dbx files as Marc suggested on my "System Restore" thread.0 -
Ok. most of the advice you are getting it for Outlook not outlook express. What should work unless your .dbx or .bak files are corrupted is to open up outlook express. The click on file, import, then c lick on messages. locate the files and import them. Same with your address book. After you get your email and address book back up and running, click on file, import/export and export your addressbook in an excel format file. 0 -
Do you use a real IP or are you behind a cable/dsl router? Also what OS are you using? If it is XP I can RDP (remote control) into your system and take a look (tomorrow).
If you are behind a router you need to forward RDP requests to the IP of your desktop through the routers web interface. This requires getting into your router. Forward TCP port 3389 to that IP (RDP). Hopefully you can figure out how to do that.
Your email issue is something that could take a week to explain or 5 minutes to just do.0 -

Slipgate, another way around the router issue would be to use MSN messenger and remote in through that. This usually works for me when I am helping people who do not know router/networking, if I cannot use LogMe-In If Ecc asks through Messenger, it will use an open port in the firewalls. 0 -

I have Satellite Internet Service and I have Windows XP Media Center. I'm currently using Firefox as a browser and Outlook Express as my email program...0 -
Dude this is so simple.
To save an E-mail
1. create a new folder on your desktop
2. copy E-mail and paste or save in that folder
3. to open right click on file...Choose open with...Select Outlook Express...
It is know back in OE and you can do WTH you wish~~~~0 -
BTW,,,, OE sucks,,,, GMAIL ROCKS!!!! 0
