Roger Clemens and the US Senate

I wish Roger would tell them all to go screw themselves and walk out. The bug hub-bub is about whether Roger lying to Congress.

Baseball needs to tighten it's testing, but how much are they going to drag people before Congress for such stupid crap?

It appears to me the Senate is on another Hollywood Commie witch hunt. For what cause? Democrats thought Eugene McCarthy Hollywood Commie hearing were bad. To bring this to that level is a national embarassment.

    We are die hard Yankee fans and have been for years here in NY . I think Andy Pettitte was telling the gods honest truth whe nhe said that Clemens told him that he was doing the HGH . In fact Pettitte told his wife the conversation too. Why would Pettitte lie ? They are extremely close friends. Andy said someday I will have to give my account to GOD . Clemens is lying and I hope he pays for it .

    I would like to see some physical evidence before i call someone a liar. I believe the congress is grandstanding. I would hope that you would also. I would have thought that a congressman would have had proof before making the statements they have made. but then again, i must remember the source....

    Oh hell they are wasting our time and money on this AND on the Patriots videotaping the opposing teams.

    I am with dave on this one. I could care less if these asshats take steroids or HGH or tape other teams. Its sports...entertainment. It doesnt make me lose sleep wondering if Clemmons got bigger and badder on his own or went 'roidal on us.

    Stop the fricking border bleeding...earn your damn pay Congress.

    It IS government business, as long as the owners want to keep their anti-trust exemption. Baseball is the only major sport that has an exemption from antitrust law. Whenever Major League Baseball is involved in a major controversy, Congress starts talking about revoking the exemption. This talk reached a fever pitch during the 1994-95 players' strike, but nothing happened. It has reached fever pitch again. Congress will threaten to repeal the exemption, and baseball will take steps to "clean up its act." It happened a few years back with "other" steroid scandal. It took congress holding hearings to get any kind of testing from the players union and the owners. Same thing this time.

    Here's the dirty little secret. They can't get him on steroids anymore. The worst they can do is tarnish his reputation and get him on LYING. In other words, all they have is a procedural crime to pursue now--just like Scooter Libby. It's funny how the procedural crime of LYING (which they can't prove) is important enough to put someone in jail over while Bill Clinton was allowed to get away with it.

    Yes, the whole Clinton getting caught lying thing, with no real repurcussion - I think that is what hacked me off most about him. I mean if you're a 2 star general and you got caught doing what Clinton did, you'd be out of a job, right? But when your Commander-in-Chief, it is OK?

    Nancy Pelosi is to blame for this commie hunt, not Harry Ried. I heard one COngressman refer to the "Holier than Thoughs" out here that are taking our ques form talk radio that thought this was a waste of COngress's time.

    The arrogance of these a-holes in Warshington can be really offensive.

    This was a House hearing not Senate.Clemens asked to appear before the commitee. There is a reason that this is important besides politics.High school kids are getting this stuff and its becoming a serious problem. You have young folks killing themselve while on this poop and SOMEONE needs to TRY to bring attention to the problem.
    I dont give a poop about a million dollar ball player and his bimbo wife using drugs and lieing about it.If it brings attention to the problem let it ruin their reputation, they can afford it.

    Clemens has to have the worst legal advice that money can buy. On the other hand, the Mitchell report is almost entirely hearsay. Reading about this, one can almost see an even division between those who believe him (Republicans) and those who don't (Democrats).
