POLITICAL discussions should go there.
Why is this hard to understand?

Now, when nunn was the only mod, ths wasn't a problem one way or the other, it only became one when you were foisted to the high and mighty position.
You didn't answer any of my questions or address any of my concerns. That's NOT doing your job! You locked it and ran away.

If, in my opinion, the main topic and purpose of a thread is to discuss or promote a political candidate or issue then I move it to politics. It is not locked, or deleted, and everyone is free to continue the discussion. I don't move threads that are not, in my opinion, mainly concerned with political issues.
That seems fairly clear to me.
I still don't understand why some folks are so up in arms over this.
But is anyone besides me growing very weary of repeating the same thing and going on and on about this utter nonsense?0 -

Come on y'all, it boils down to passing the buck. You KNOW that political discussions can/do get nasty. If all political threads are moved to the Politics forum, then the mods here in GD do NOT have to waste their time reading them, and when they get out of control, taking action.

Actually, that's partly true. There's a reason why there are four mods in politics. It does require extra attention and that's a very good reason to keep political threads in that forum.
But even a political thread that isn't raucous still belongs in the proper forum.0 -

If you feel as strongly about this as you state than why do you have "I'm With Fred" picture in your signature. You should only post in politics until you change your pic. Now I am not disagreeing with you so please don't have me banned frm GB for life.[;)]0 -

I wouldn't be interested in debating the different politicians but instead just try to understand their beliefs on the issues and vote for the best candidate. If someone in the forum gave me info about a politician I would need to look all of that information up before I could believe it was true. Too much mudslinging going on in this race for Pres.0 -
iluvguns- You are now discussing politics with your question in the sig line. A campaign ad is not a discussion. Why is this difference so hard for you to fathom?
Dan- As I have said maybe 30 times now including in the previous two sentences, a campaign ad in a signature isn't a discussion. When people type words that's a discussion.

I think you may be exaggerating a wee bit. I just went and looked and on the entire first page of the politics forum only two threads were moved there by me.
I think there are 50 threads per page so that's 4% moved.
Is 4% really worth all the hubbub?0 -

An ad in a signature line isn't DISCUSSION.
Discussion is when one or more people are typing words that express an opinion or position. When those opinions or positions are about candidates or issues they should go in the politics forum.
The site administrators created the politics forum and want us to use it. End of story.
Enough already. We've been going around on this since Friday and everyone is sick of it. Let it go. We will have a politics forum and political discussions (you know, words and not just ads) will go there. Period.
Nunn has poofed all the other threads on this topic and I am locking this one as he obviously wants an end to this business. Don't bring it up again. Get on with your life.0
